I would get my kid a used Honda for 10g or less. They are reliable, easy to work on, great on gas, and cheap. If they want a 300+hp car, then they can save up for the rest of the car.

Well that's a little narrow minded. There are a lot of clean hondas out there that can also run 13's comfortably with their 4banger. I had one, and also an RSX that ran 13's all motor. Let me find a pic

Any cool car including a Aro/Bird/TA but get the 305V8 2bb or TBI 150HP on a good day. Then when they prove they can handle it...............

Like the riced-out Civic that pulled up next to me at a stoplight today?

The look on that kid's face after being beat off the line by a 4,000 pound SUV was priceless.
