Cool 2011 2LT Pricing advice

Ok so I have read many postings on a daily basis for the past few months and have finally decided on what I want. But now the most interesting part of buying my camaro is playing hardball with the dealers to get the best offer. I know truecar gives you a good estimate, but there are possibilities of getting discounts in several things. Heres my 411:

1. Work for Pepsi- Qualify for GM Supplier Pricing
2. Recent College engineering grad- Qualify for Preferred Pricing
3. Costco Member
4. Live in Long Beach, Ca

I am getting a 2011 Camaro 2LT with the following:

1. RS - $1500
2. SIM color
3. Sunroof - $900
4. Aluminum Polish wheels upgrade - $470
5. Automatic - $1,185

So according to chevy website my custom build is going to run me $32,130. Based on your buying experience what type of pricing should i expect. I am 23 years old so I know they are going to try and pull crap on me but with the help of past buyers I should be locked and loaded.

Thanks ahead of time!!!

I am asking the exact same question! I am 19 and about to buy a 2LT 2011 IOM with IO interior, sun roof, auto trans, rs pkg, ground effects, and nickel fuel door. I don't know how competitive the market is in the greater Los Angles area, but here in Oklahoma we have 3 major dealers and they are fighters. This is where I am going to win out... Hopefully.. Btw I am pretty sure the polish wheels upgrade is included in the RS package bc it comes with the midnight silver rims.

Im in the same boat as you.. Im only 18 though but want basically the same vehicle as you two, except Summit White with black hood stripes. And the polished wheels arent part of the RS package by the way, the RS includes the same wheel but painted I believe. So I want the polished for an extra $470.. I just started college so Im also eligible for the College Discount, family member works for Sprint so Supplier Pricing, and Costco member. But I dont know if any of those can be combined, I really hope so though.

It would be nice if they combined the discounts. My family has a club membership at Sams Club, I work for Apple, and I am a member of a credit union. If those can stack.. Well shoot I'd be in great shape.. When will you be looking at purchasing your car?

Yeah i would also consider joining a CU if that discount could be combined too. Well I just put my Envoy on craigslist so I would like to give it some time to sell before I have to trade it in, but I have found one online at a local dealer that is exactly what I want. Now its more of a matter of convincing my parents since they have bought my first two vehicles and pay insurance etc...

Best of luck to you! I should be starting negotiations by Monday (if they are open) if I have everything together. I will inform you as I go into battle with the dealers of Oklahoma.

My final deal was:
2011 Camaro 2LT
Color: IBM
RS Package
Block Heater
Manual Tranny

MSRP $29,650
Invoice: $28,948 (including Dealer Ad fees and Destination fees)
My Price: $28,208 - $750 USAA = $27,458
Dealer Cost: $28,084 (including 3% hold over)
Dealer Supplier Pricing Kickback: $600 (few admit to this, but if you get a supplier pricing approval code and provide it, they get $600 from GM)
Dealer Profit: $776
I also got a great deal on my trade-in. It was in rough shape, and if they get any more than there money back they will be lucky.

Look up your dealer cost on truecar.com add $500 to it and tell three or more local dealers via email that you have been offered that deal. Out of the original four I contacted, two said they would match it, one beat it by $200 and one said go to hell. Final arm twisting and playing the same game on my trade-in resulted in a great deal for me. Don't settle for anything that isn't in the "Great Price" zone of on truecar.com.

Remember to use all your poker moves. First, get all the info (Costs, Fees, Kickbacks, Holdback, Trade-in values including current Craigslist pricing NADA and KBB) so you have the cards to play. Work with multiple dealers so you don't have a problem walking away. Keep your poker face. Bluff a little. When I say bluff, I mean lie. If two dealers hold steady on your price or trade in value, lie and say another dealer offered a little better.

Good Luck

Supplier, College Grad, Credit Union, and Military discounts can NOT be combined. All of these discounts are the exact same discount called Preferred Pricing.

If you are wanting to use Preferred Pricing go here and build your car first. http://prod3.gmautobuilder.com/Build...riceformula=SU

Remember if you decide to use Preferred Pricing, you can NOT negotiate below this price (you can not walk into a dealership and negotiate Preferred Pricing - $500) unless you qualify for USAA discount. This is a set price set by GM and any dealership who uses a Preferred Pricing code but sells the car for less can lose their franchise contract. The good thing about this is that Preferred Pricing is between $1,000 below to $500 above Invoice Pricing depending on your options.

You shouldnt have any obligations when you order. Unless you want to get the deal worked out then.

And I wont be getting a Camaro, this year anyways. Couldnt talk the parents into it... They said maybe next year though!

May work out for you, since in a year they'll be clearing all the 2011's and you can save thousands. If you can buy now consider picking up a deal for the remaining 2010's.

My dealer said he wanted a 1k deposit when I order it through the factory. Idk about loan options because I am paying cash.

Most dealers require a deposit between $500-$1,000.

When you order the car you'll get a break down of the costs and how much the total due will be. You will not do financing until the car arrives.

So I have finally talked the parents into letting me get a Camaro, with the help of a friend that has a 2010 LT. What im looking at now is a Black 2011 2LT RS with Sunroof, so i have dropped the auto and polished wheels.. Also found this exact one at a local dealer. Will be driving/practicing on the manual with the friends Camaro this week and have to wait till the end of semester (Dec 17) to actually start the buying process, parents rule. Still wondering if the college discount(supplier price) is the best way to go or to try and negotiate on our own? MSRP: 30,475 Supplier: 29,590 and Great Price on True Car: 29,142

I walked into my local dealer, told him I'd pay invoice on a custom order, and no extra dealer add-on's and he said no problem (plus I got an additional $1000 off for Pontiac loyalty program). Didn't even need to mention preferred pricing! They required $500 down. Financing is done when car comes in.

I just bought mine last week, and mine is a 1LT/RS. MSRP: $27,525 I paid $26,000 for it Plus Sales Tax and Tax. No Dealer Fee, No Dealer Add-Ons. You should shoot for around $1500-1700 off plus no dealer fee and work your way up very slowly they should take it though.
