How to get a V6 Automatic to Wheel Spin
Hi guys,
Lately I've been trying to learn about more techinical driving. And one of the ones that stumped me is wheel spinning. How does an Automatic car do burnouts? Also, my car is the V6 version... I turn off TC/SC... I also dont have RS package so im running all season tires =p Any help would be awesome =D

In our rental 2010 camaro LS auto, we threw the gear in S mode, held on to brake, (turned off T/C before) and put the pedal to the medal and burnout was going down the empty road, leaving marks as soon as light was green

Auto V6 is open rear diff, so you are probably only going to see one rear tire spin.
One foot hard on the brake , one covering the accelerator. Give it about 3/4- full throttle, and start to release on the brake. Some cars will sit fairly still, some want to push through the front brakes. Feather the throttle to maintain wheel speed. |

totally understand, was cool when my cousin showed up in it, he got on the far of our right side of the street, cranked the wheel and slammed gas and we do a perfect power slide right straight onto the driveway. Looked cool

WOW, I tried it out today, THANKS YOU GUYS! Your tips were AWESOME! I had no idea how easy it is to get the wheels to spin...
I was in my neighbourhood when i tried it, the loud squeal made me let go of the accelerator right away so I didn't do it for long, but WOW... I felt like I was ripping the ground up LOL. THANKS AGAIN GUYS! I may as well ask this... what about getting the rear to go sideways in an automatic? and Donuts? Possible in Auto? You guys are great, wow Im so happy LOL!

Yeah... wow, at a red light today... I didn't even mean to wheel spin, my tires still chirped... crazy.. maybe my tires are getting more worn in... so its easier to spin now.

This is my GMC Syclone, with the front propshaft removed. Maybe in a parking lot somewhere in KC for the Sy/Ty nats one year. Yes, you can do donuts, and get sideways, but with an open rear diff, the car is going to want to track straight, as you are only spinning one wheel. If you can get both to go, its a little easier.

I see... thanks for the video. Are the V6 Automatics the only car out of the 4 that have open differential? The others have a LSD right? Sorry if this is going off topic from the original thread, but whats the difference between Open differential and the others? Are there benefits to having open diff? or is it just GM's way of cheaping out on the Automatics?
Thanks =p

I remember reading some info that the rear end in the auto and the manual was different, but I would have to check out exactly what the differences were.
