My Camaro's first upgrade! New Hurst shifter

I just recently got the new Hurst Billet Competition Plus shifter for my SS and a nice "SS" shift knob from MGW and it feels great! I have to give credit to the guys at Yonke Racing, formerly 5th Gear Performance, in Port Richey, FL for doing the install. I don't think it's too hard to shift, although I do feel that very small bit of left-right play, but it doesn't bother me at all. And the throws are ever so short and sweet!! Here's some pics...

Is the left to right play anymore than that of the stock shifter? I've heard issues of the hurst being noisy under load, how have you found it so far?

I don't think the play is too bad compared to stock. As I said, there's a very small amount of loose play where the stick just kind of wiggles about a half inch in place. But when actually moving it from left to right between gates, it definitely feels tighter than stock. There is a noticeable click when changing gears, but I personally like that sound. And there is a little bit of vibration as the rpms rise, but the kit does actually include dampening pads that can be installed for that. But I usually listen to music loud enough that I can't hear any noise anyway...

All in all, I love this shifter! Very solid, VERY short throws.

I was curious about the vibration and noise. Some have even described it as a rattle. Does it happen in every gear under load? Are you going to install the dampening pads?

It sort of does sound a little like a rattle, and it only gets loud as you rev the engine. It only seems to be more noticeable in lower gears, not so much in the higher ones. Like I said, I usually listen to my radio loud enough that I don't hear it. If I decide it's bothersome enough, I may go back in and install the pads.
