The same exact thing happened to my car a couple of weeks ago. I have exactly the same damage as you, in the same spot. The bumper is scraped right down into the rubber, and the rubber is gouged....scrape is about 12" long and 4" wide. I had a "brush" with a cement base on a light pole. (Dam blind spot.....my own fault)

Just to give you an idea of cost......my buddy owns his own body shop, he said the repair and repaint would normally cost around $500-$600. He's going to do it for me for $200 cash.
So to repair your damage, I'd say at least $500. If you buy another bumper and have it painted, I'd bet you'll be in the $1,000 range for everything.

It will be cheaper than yours more than likely. Painters hate to spray metallic paint because it is a pain in the but to match closely especially on plastic, and metallic paints cost more than basic paints. His repairs should be more around $300 since it is black and not a metallic black.

If you have it repainted by a professional. The mark will not be noticeable. It will look just like new, and if it is still noticeable, don't take the car back until you are happy with it. The dealer has to repair it as good as they can, and they back it up guaranteed. More than likely they'll just repaint that spot. They will sand the clear coat down on the rest of it. Sand that spot smooth. Primer that spot. Paint the spot. Then re clear coat the entire bumper so that the paint on the entire bumper matches.

If you can get the whole bumper repainted it would look much better imo, and it shouldn't be noticeable at all. thats if you take it to a reputable paint shop.

If you have an appointment, it should take about 1 to 2 days, 3 days maximum. When I first got my car, the stickers that come on the car ripped the paint off my rear bumper cover. I got an appointment with my dealer. I took my car over about noon one day, and I got it back about 3 o'clock the next day. They can take the bumper cover off and bake it alone so it makes it easier than other body panels.

What are you waiting for? And a reshape, repaint and clear will run you more like $950. That's what mine was and mine was much less severe than yours.

and i went to my chevy dealer collision repair center, they told me it will be around $470. most of the price was labor for taking the bumper off.

do you guys think if i just take the bumper off and give it to them it will be substantially cheaper? i mean hell, can i just do the whole thing?
