Headers and a 150-shot of nitrous with a good transmission calibration.

I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your Camaro. Don't worry about "one up" people. You will live a healthier life. No matter what you do there will always be a Badder Boy down the block.

Take is slow, don't jump into anything fast. The first thing to do is to start with a Cold Air Intake. Mine is by Cold Air Inductions and It added about 12-15hp to my Camaro. You don't have to get new headers and cats, just replace your exhaust. I put on Flowmaster's Amercan Thunder Series (you can do it yourself) and got another 25hp out of it.

Between the two, I've got plenty additional hp to make a difference on the road and a really great grumble/rumble when she starts and drives. That's all I wanted and I'm happy with it.

Start there, drive it like that for a few months and if you like it then you are done. If you feel you still need more power, then you can go for more. And SSOOCH is right, be happy with your Camaro and don't worry about what the other guys/gals got under the hood.

Good Luck with your new Baby!

Lani

Dont believe the 5.0 hype is a good start. They run right on par with Camaros. Get him to a track and see what happens stock for stock.

L99 here. Start with a headers/exhaust/cai/good dyno tune on the motor and trany. This will add a good 50 HP. Next do the Supercharger and another good dyno tune. That will add another 150 HP. The sky's the limit after that. This is what I have done and lately I've added Meth/water injection. I'm at 550 rwhp. Next spring I may do a cam/lifters to put me over the 600 rwhp range. Good luck and have fun. Quit worrying about others. There will always be someone faster.

Stock to stock, they both are EQUAL. The Camaro is NOT faster then the mustang and the mustang is NOT faster then the Camaro.

A '11 GT vs a Camaro SS is a drivers race. If he wins it's because he is a better driver then you are. If you win it's because you are a better driver then he is. If you switched cars you would get the same results. Do NOT believe any talk that one is faster then the other.

Respectfully disagree.... OP has an L99 and definitely needs a couple of mods to keep up w/ his friend. I raced a 2011 Camaro at the track... He had 60 miles on his and I had 600 on mine.

They will smoke you off the line and there's not enough track to catch up in a 1/4 mile.

BTW... I can take him now...

I have to disagree. The manual SS versus the 5.0 is a driver's race, but a stock L99 will lose to the 5.0 unless the 5.0 driver has his head up his ass and can't drive.

Just enjoy your car and don't let it bother you. Like others have said, there will always be someone faster than you.

ahh don't sweat it,, But If it really bothers you, then I bet Intake/ Tune will wake it up nicely.

On my previous car (Pontiact G8 GT) I had Catback/ Vararam Air Intake/ Superchips Engine/Transmission Tune.. And it turned it into a whole new beast! The transmission tune was phenomenal!

I disagree, I took a 5.7 V8 Challenger with mods on, with my stock V8 6.2 SS/RS on at Camaro5Fest in April. We raced three times, I beat him 2 of the three and the only reason he beat me the first race was because I screwed up and let off the gas for a second. It's a drivers race and your friend is just more familiar with his car than you are with yours. Get out there and drive that Camaro like you stole her every single day!!! Don't be gentle and break her in with kid fingers. BREAK her in and turn her into a BEAST!!!

I can't wait to get mine back on the track in November and see what she can do in the cooler weather (we are still in the upper 90's).

Damn 25hp out of just a catback? Did you dyno this gain or just from what the manufacturer said?

No doubt-there will ALWAYS be someone faster. But nothing wrong with trying to catch-up. CAI,LT Headers,Hi-Flo Cats & back. Quality DYNO tune. Got a 'friend' of mine 75 RWH-Dyno connfirmed. Learn your Girl-other than gas and rubber it's a free mod. Be safe and enjoy. Also, you know you always win the 'swimsuit competition'.

Speaking from experience, if you don't want to change the car physically too much.... I would Def. go with a CAI & a ECM / TCM tune (engine & trans).

The Trans tune will make the car feel like a completely different car all together.

Beyond that, a nice torque converter will do a nice little number for the car since that is a pretty big bottle neck on automatics.

When I get it tuned, does the tranny tune go with the engine tune Or is that a seperate tune? I been reading Diablo was a good choice. What's the best route. Also suggestions on which cai is the better? Thank y'all so much.

Go trade it on a Z06. Then you'll be happy that you can now beat him ,but be depressed paying $70,000 grand to do it. Although then you might be depressed again when someone in a ZR1 beats you. See where I'm going with this. Be happy with what you got. Someone always has one better.

Man, you don't want to start the CAI debate! Just do a thread search and you'll find plenty of good info and BS to digest. I went with K&N. Didn't know enough about heat sink so I ended up insulating that shiny AL tube-oh well. I do feel you get the best tune on a dyno-don't know about auto tranny's being included-imagine it comes down to dyno time? DO RESEARCH on the shop/tuner-ask a lot of ?'s-it's your hard earned $.
