Chevy Thank you perk

FYI --

I just got an email from my salesman at Classic Chevrolet. He said that Chevy has just notified him that everyone that has ordered will be getting free directions and connections and theft track with there new cars as a "thank you" from Chevy.

Sounds good, but exactly what are these things and what do they do? Can we asume that these are only going to orders placed in this allocation and won't be seen on most of the future models?

Isn't that just Onstar Navigation? I'm pretty sure we get this free for a year anyway.

That explains why the option code DCP was added to my order when I added the polished wheels....we couldn't figure out what that was, or why it was put there w/ the refreshed order...but that is what DCP is....Directions and Connections Package...thanks for the info.

It's OnStar. It's even standard on the Cobalt - check out the chevrolet.com site.

There is NOTHING SPECIAL about this offer. The salesman is an idiot.

You get OnStar already, but this is an add-on to OnStar for one year for free.

I could be wrong on this, but I think those are add-on packages from the standard Onstar. If that is the case, then they are basically giving everyone a $300.00 Onstar add-on package.

SOME GM models come with this standard (Not Theft Track...but Directions).

Without this, the OnStar that's free for a year is only the "Safe and Sound" package which gives you the phone and the emergency features...not turn-by-turn directions.

Now you will get the turn-by-turn and the theft track (similar to LoJack).

Directions and connections in NOT included on every new car. They may give you a free trial...but some models include it with the 12 months for free.

Theft track is on all of the OnStar equipped cars now (or at least most of them). They can pinpoint your car within like 100 feet, and tell the law where the car is...hopefully to catch the theif, and recover your car. If your car gets a free trial of Directions and connections - they should be able to pinpoint the car - IF NEEDED.
