Can stock handle the power?

I see sigs showing all kinds of nice mods like cams, headers, CAI, catbacks, FI etc.

Can the drivetrain handle the horses? At what point do you need to start looking past HP production and start looking at keeping the car from tearing itself apart?

i think it can handle.. but when you have like 600 HP.. its all about how you handle the HP .. 500rwhp + your drive train probably wont last as long but if you know how to drive it then thats different

you could tear up the clutch on a stock engine if you abuse it but it seems like most people are starting to beef up the drivetrain around 550-600rwhp. some do it earlier, some later. but like others said before me, it has to do with the purpose you have for the car.

I don't ever plan to take mine to a track. It's my daily driver but I sometimes engage in "spirited driving."

I wouldn't mind taking it to a track once or twice. Safer than any road in our county!

You should be fine. I've been at 550/550 for a year and this week moving it up to 600/600. I expect no problems and I beat the snot out of my car!

But, with an automatic transmission and torque converter. It is the manual transmission guys breaking stuff even without modifications. Secret? Dont' pop the clutch. Slippage prevents breakage

I think it can handle it. It is a big decision to throw out the warranty though, so make sure your wallet can handle it as well. Power is addicting and the more power the more parts will break...it is not a matter of if, but when.

yup.. make sure you leave extra money to repair.. usually when you have a car with over 500 rwhp.. its should be a weeken car.. dont be driving it all of the time

So what's the consensus on max "safe" power for a daily driver?

i would say.. like CAI, long tubes, exhaust, dyno ... tune would be prefect for a everyday car 420whp, but if you can have like 500 rwhp for a everyday car.. just have to take it easy

safe is as safe does IMO. I don't launch the car hard...never used the launch control nor would I with what I have. Not a drag car, but I would like to go to a track someday, but you can bet I will have replacement money in the bank before I do. I've had some hard pulls that is for sure, but i'm careful at the launch, especially since a buddy of mine stopped over about a month ago and blew out his half shaft using launch control...his was covered.

safe horsepower is 426 flywheel for M6 with the warranty intact

You guys are fine with the bolt ons and cams. I have over 540hp to the wheels with my twin turbo kit. I left everything stock. How ever my car has never seen a track or a burn out and i dont drop my clutch. It all depends on the driver and how you dog your car. I took my car to the dealership today for an oil change they said since i have twin turbos change my tranny fluid a few thousand miles early. So instead of 70k change it at 50k-60k.

We have Many Many Stock long blocks making 600 RWHP and a few making Mid 700s.

We also have mapped out all the necessary upgrades to support these power levels.

I have over 600 RWHP on a Stock Drivetrain and I have not had any issues.. As long as you don't dump the clutch at HIGH RPM's, you should be fine !!
