Driveway Mods in the Quest for Power Meets The Dyno

The Royal Bee has finally met the dyno at Precision Dyno in Belmont, NC.

Topgun1 has also made a couple of threads about his dyno runs there as well

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104211

Thomas is a very knowledgeable mechanic, tuner and dyno operator who takes the time to work with you and is an all around stand up guy .

Recap of Driveway Mods in the Quest for Power is located here:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96761

C.A.I cold air intake, ADM race scoop, TSP underdrive pulley, hand ported exhaust manifolds with high-temp coating, rear cat removed, front cat ported for 3 inch inlet pipe with header wrap, polished throttle body, Mobil 1 trans fluid, Royal Purple gear lube in rear, Rev Xtreme catch can, stock exhaust system from cats back including stock mufflers.

The dyno runs were performed Saturday morning with absolutely fabulous weather and even a slight chill in the air – a far cry from the 90F+ temps that arrived later on in the day. We did a couple of runs, let the car cool for a few minutes, followed by another couple of runs with the third run being the best. Check out this video on You Tube of Anna at the wheel of her car on the dyno:

Gallons of sweat and cases of beer behind these results :

SAE: 401.5 RWHP, 394 RWTQ
STD: 410 RWHP, 402.6 RWTQ

Hey, at least she lets me drive it from time to time!

Topgun1,
Thanks, man! You have raised the bar for me YET AGAIN with you cam swap! What do I have to do to catch you?

SSPaul,
Simple stuff this time around to improve the longevity of the engine, control valve train harmomics and free up a few additional horsepower.

This winter, I'll install Comp 918 valve springs, perform the Comp rocker arm upgrade to replace the needle bearings in the stock rocker arms (I'll have a shop press them since I don't own a shop press), and install Comp pushrods.

The springs will add additional harmonic stability throughout the rpm range and the stiffer pushrods will not "flex" as much as the stock ones, thereby adding another level of stability and removal of wasted motion. Replacing the needle bearings in the rockers is more for longevity and piece of mind since we plan to keep the car forever.
