Just installed Borla S Type on LS3. Will it get louder?

Today I had my exhaust installed. The Borla S Type. It is much too quiet for my taste. Will it get louder over time? Very disappointed so far.

How many miles do you have on the system? Usually it takes about a thousand miles for it to be seasoned. But if you want loud, you really need to get some long tube headers. The S Type alone won't ever be loud. It will sound deeper but never much louder.

I recently added the S type as well...best damn tone I have heard so far (not trying to offend, I haven't heard much). Love how deep and throaty it is...

How much sound increase will you get from LTs? Substantial or moderate sound increase? Truthfully, the S type isn't loud, but I don't plan on going TOO MUCH louder. I still like my premium audio lol

I've had my Borla Type S for about 5000 miles and it got a bit louder, but not much. I did hear one with the Borla's and LT and it was quite a bit louder, but still had a nice sound to it.

Sorry but your gonna have to do as others suggested and get LT to get the volume you want.

I heard someones SS with corsa catback, hi flow cats and kooks long tubes. The tone was a bit too raspy, distorted and high pitched. Did not sound much like a v8. The borla s type is deeper, sounds a bit more cleaned up and carries a GREAT tone at all rpm ranges. With high flow cats it gurgles and if you add long tubes you'll be getting fixit tickets sooner than you expected.

mike is corsa or die...

Sorry, I love corsa for the simple fact that they created a product with no drone and stand by it...besides that the tone doesn't match the S type by any stretch. I have heard both and the borla is just a deeper, throaty tone period...

I will say both products are equal however..offering that product without drone is just exceptional and my hats off to them..however if they DIDNT offer that claim of no drone there wouldn't be the appeal to purchase it. Don't sit here and tell me you guys didn't buy it without that thought in mind...

As far as what duc said....is the volume increase really that substantial? I personally would like a louder response, but I do enjoy the quiet tone while crusing...i imagine those days would be gone with LTs?

S type starts out a little muffled (cat back that is) but opens up later on once it's burned in from use (1000 miles). However, it really on gets more poppy rather then louder.

If you want loud there are other brands out there. You stated that you were getting a CAI. I would hold back on the install for a few weeks so you can gauge the car a little before you add another hp increasing mod.

Have fun.

I am going with ARH long tube headers with cats and Borla Touring cat-back.

One of the best drag races I have seen on youtube, and I wish I could find it again, was a loud white car sounding like a Nascar race car, going against a quiet 2010 Black Camaro. They both took off and all you could hear was the white car, but the Camaro crossed the finish line a couple of seconds before the loud white car. It was awesome.

Let me know how that sounds for ya...I went with the S type for immediate sound increase, but only did axle back for the cost...I want to do ARH or borla headers and am considering how to handle the remaining mid pipes...I am just concerned the S type with headers will make my head spin with in cabin sound...but maybe it is like that with headers across the board. Not sure...never owned a set

dont get me wrong the bolra is for sure deeper. but i actually like the way corsa sounds.. and so does allot of vette owners.... i dont like s type because its not loud, i like my exhaust loud! corsa is for me because i want a loud exhaust with a little drone possible. corsa is one of the louder exhausts with the least drone.....

I don't knock it...as long as everyone loves their own baby thats all that matters. I wish borla offered the guarantee of no drone that corsa does...for that...my hat is off to them. I am curious if that applies to headers lol

I went with Kooks catted headers and the Borla Touring. The exhaust has a nice deep rumble, not raspy at all. Mild at crusing, sounds great at WOT. There is slight drone on the highway in 6th gear, but not too bad.

Here is a clip, although youtube exhaust videos don't do any justice:

ITguy, with your touring exhaust being "mild" do you think the S type would be too much for in cabin? That is my concern really...in cabin audible level. I can deal with the added police attention...its the increase in ear rapage that makes me concernicus.
