Hey Mike - I was just looking at the pictures and it appears as maybe you have installed these directional tires backwards. Give me a call so we can get it resolved. The arrow should be pointing to the front of the car.
Update. They are installed correctly. It was the way I was looking at the picture.

Thanks for the info...maybe I will get lucky and find them at a swap meet or something.

Have you tried to pop off the Moda logo? After the logo sticker is off, there is just a plain gray background with a 1/4" hole in the center of the cap that you can cover up with any available sticker. You should be able to find something that will fit. Good luck!

Test fit
Well, I got the default 17" wheel and tire package for my 2010 Camaro 2LT from Tirerack.com. Ordered late on Saturday night and received them Tuesday afternoon! Rudy was very helpful in guiding me in my decision that the default package truly was the way to go when on a budget.
Everything was well packaged and intact. The instructions that come with the tires are very thorough and informative. One word of caution, do not ignore the big orange sticker on the inside of the wheel regarding the centering rings. When you take the wheel off the car, the centering ring will likely stay on the hub. The wire meant to hold the centering ring in place really does not fit tight. Also, note the tires are directional, so pay attention to that as well. I test fitted them and took some pics to show you guys how they fit and look compared to the stock 19" wheels and tires. The overall height of the tires are just about the same....within an 1/8" of an inch. The overall width of tire appears to be very close, but the tread width is narrower. Should be great for slicing through the snow. Everything clears just fine, calipers have plenty of clearance. I can not comment on the handling, as I did not road test them. I just wanted to be sure there were no clearance issues and see how they looked on the car. Once the really bad weather hits, I will install them for the winter. The fourth pic shows the winter tire on the front and stock tire on the rear. The last pic shows the snow tire on the left and stock tire on the right.

I'll post up pictures of the Pirelli Ice and Snows when they come in later this week. Though I must admit, I didn't end up ordering them from TireRack. Local chain here is running a Buy 3 get 1 free, putting them at 131.99 each, couldn't pass that up. will be $40 for mount/balance, and off I go!

Rudy,
I hope I am not repeating a question you answered already, but I can't seem to find this out. I have a 2011 SS/RS on order and want to drive it in hard Canadian winters. Don't everyone flame me for doing so, I do have another car for those big storms! It's just that if I do get caught in a storm, I want the thinnest and smallest wheel that can fit on the SS/RS. I have read that you recommend: "For best winter traction a 245/40R20 front and rear is best" I just wonder if there is a 19" or smaller wheel size that would work on the SS/RS. Has anyone been able to fit a 19" or 18" on the roller skate brembo equipped cars? eB

This is weird, similar name. Anyway, I asked the same thing to Rudy offline. Here is my summary. With the roller skate Brembos there are two options for 19" wheels at tirerack. They are also pricey. It was cheaper to go with 20". However, if you are willing to change out the front brake pads (like I plan on doing) you will be able to go to 18" wheels and have more options that are budget friendly. Hope this helps, and I have anything wrong, someone please correct me.

For those putting on the new wheels themselves the lugs should be torqued to 140 FT lbs.

Rudy: My stock Pirrelli's are both worn out and not safe for the winters in WV. I ideally will have another vehicle for a beater(ideally, pending some finances) but i will still need to drive the camaro. Winters here vary alot, some days 50-60 degrees, one time it was single digits for a week, another right at 25 degrees with like 10" snow(needed chains on my FWD Scion lol)
Basically, what tire will give me good warm weather performance, good life, and still be able to handle some snow, maybe even deep if necessary... Thanks! Edit: car is an SS with the roller skates..

Here's a pic of my winter setup that I got from Tire Rack. I bought 17" Moda EB1 Bright Silver wheels with 225/65R17 Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow tires and TPMS sensors. Rudy was a great help and double-checked that my order was filled correctly.

This might be the wrong place to ask but are the roller skate brake pads going to become the default brake upgrade in the future?
I have a 2010 2SS/RS with the regular brakes. I'm looking for a set of winter tires/wheels and would prefer to go 18" for cost reasons but I don't want to be forced to sell them in the future if I end up with the roller skate brake pads. Any info on this would be appreciated. |

^ You will always be able to get aftermarket pads with out the roller skate dampers. If you do decide you want to go with the dampers for some reason you would need to stay with a 20 inch wheel. There are no 18 inch wheels I am aware of that will clear the dampers.

Do you happen to know if the aftermarket pads solve brake squeak? I don't have any problems now but don't want to be stuck choosing between living with squeaky brakes and replacing my winter rims/tires in the future. |

You're welcome! Unfortunately aftermarket pads will not elimate the squeek. Basically is was a design problem and the dampers were the solution. You have to decide which way you want to go. If you go with a 20 inch package then you can run the dampers and not worry about it.
