Kinda a NEWB question... 427?

So Ive seen a few people who have a 427 in their SS. Knowing that the LS3 in our cars is a 376(I think) Does this mean that they have swapped with an LS7? Or are they modding the LS3 somehow to make it a 427?

You can buy a stroker kit to make an LS3 have 427 ci. However, a lot of people feel the stroke is too long for the LS3 block. Others are building them with LSx blocks and I am sure some have swapped in an LS7.

Google stroker kits and LS3 or visit any of the site sponsors who build engines.

Either one. A stroked LS3 can get 427 cubic inches.

Do you say that because there is not that much gain to be had going with a stroker kit on an LS3?

No he said that because by looking at the output of that specific engine you can tell if it's an LS7 or just a stroked LS3.

Getting more cubes out of an engine will always reap benefits, mainly in low end torque in the case of having a longer stroke.
