Best Cam

Im thinking about going with a cam but i cnt seem to find one with a very light idle/lope. I dnt really like the rouge lope of the bigger cams.
Can someone tell me what would be the best cam(spec wise) for wat im lookn for?
Thanx in advance!

I'm running a BIG cam and my tuner was able to make it idle without the lope

But we were playing with a hesitation on take-off and tried that with a few other things.I love the lope so we kept playing with it till we got the lope back and deleted the hesitation.

All in all, I think the lope has alot to do with the tune, not just the cam.

I know ADM has a stage 1 cam that they say idles like stock, but only gives you about 20 rwhp

Lot of different cams out there for a lot of different applications.

Figure out what you want from the car and how you want it to drive. Figure out where you spend most of your time RPM wise with the car and how it is going to end up being used. No since in putting in a huge cam that runs 5000-7000 RPM if it never gets driven there. Since your looking at a smaller cam setup, figure you should pick up 30-45 hp anyway to the tire.

As for the lope...you can get a good sounding cam, if that is what you are after that still drives nice and doesn't try and bounce your head off the window from the shake.

We have a number of smaller cams, even one we dubbed "The Executive" because of our Corvette customers that wanted almost no lope at all but wanted to pick up power. In our range of cams, I would look at the G6X1 or G6XE.

What are your end goals for the car?

L99
as for the power range between 500-600 at the wheels
im trying to decide on a tt or a supercharger as well so that also plays a big role. headers, exhaust, cai

600 rwhp on a L99/A6 car you are for sure going to have to do some kind of forced induction if you are staying stock displacement.

Plan on a transmission build with that as well

between 500-600 at the wheels not neccessarily 600rwhp...i wud b jus fine with the 500-550 range... i had an '01 Mustang GT with 500 at the wheels but ive read that within the range im lookn for the tranny nd drivetrain will hold up

We have used a cam that sounds real nice but has real good street, cold start manners and has made 40 more RW once headers, exhaust and cold air were installed.

The whole setup is good for 70RW total...

Its not a big cam but sure acts like one
Spec are 224-236 611-621 114LSA

We have Comp grind it on LSL lobes, we call it the "cam of the man"
We have made anywhere from 470 to 710RW with it, it flat out works...

Only 2 degree's of overlap, easy to tune and make great powa

go with the ls9 cam, ported heads, and a s/c or tt, will get you in your power range. also as mentioned need to beef up transmission and rearend, and i would also install a stall.
