What great minds - besides cars - on this forum!
Area leaders worked great for us this year... we had restraunts, hotels, and gas stations stops coordinated w/ times so others across the state could join.

In fact as we were driving across other states they knew we were coming and just hooked right up on the fly. We just started seeing new license plates in the crowd at night...

Glad I'm not the lone wolf with that thought.

Nice!! Didn't know you Texas boys could coordinate something like that. I'm used to seeing Jerry Jones announce his grand plans only to see his dreams and money go blowing in the wind.

I kid I kid Mike! It's cool you guys planned and pulled it off so smoothly.

I drove this route a few months back and after Indio and then Blythe the Fuel/Rest stops are pretty scattered until you get closer to Phoenix. Most of the places are small but others (Truck stops) have large parking areas and are decent. I don't think there will be a need for more than 2-3 stops from Palm Springs.

Morongo Gas station is HUGE. Parking at the casino would not be a problem, We could probably fit the entire C5F2 crowd in the back parking lot. There is a much easier way to get to the freeway than the stupid circle jerk turnabout that only a moron could come up with and think it was a good idea.

If everyone fills up prior to leaving the casino, we would be pretty close to making it without having to stop for fuel before AZ. It's only 300 miles from Cabazon to Chandler.

Traffic getting into AZ needs to be considered when looking at the departure time. Do we really want to get out of CA so early/late that we hit 5pm traffic in a different state? Especially not knowing what the traffic patterns are like in that area.

Is it April yet?????

If we start off in Morongo it's ~ 130 Miles (2hrs doing speed limit )to blythe which is just under half way to the track. After Blythe there are places to stop but not all will handle the cars in one place. If a pit stop is needed I suggest Blythe as there are a couple of areas that would hold the cars (Truckstop, Parking lots, etc). From there it's a straight shot ~ 170miles to Firebird (then fill-up with 93 )

Something I have not seen mentioned is pictures. I was planning on doing a bit of filming and picture taking with my video camara along the way. I'm sure there are people in each group that can do the same from their departure points. If we have a group that wants to film/pictures we can break off before and after we stop and catch the whole group coming in for a Pitstop or maybe just cruising past and get some

Nice Idea

I want to get a picture of 2 columns of Camaro's coming down the interstate with a California flag and the Stars and Stripes (NEED THIS TOO) being flown out of the sunroofs of the 2 lead cars (ala Calvary style)
Just a thought. Not sure it will work but worth a shot

Yep count me in for sure. We may even be able to get Ben to come down here and meet up with us and maybe bring the Fresno crew with him and we can all head out from here at the same time.

hell no! that's why i was saying i'd be leaving at like 6am. plus, arriving around noon, you won't be driving during the hottest part of the day. it'll be April, so it won't be too hot, but if you can avoid that part of the day, great.

Good point, wasn't thinking about the heat. Also, agree avoiding rush hour traffic in Phoenix would be a good idea. I got the day off, so earlier would probably be better.

Yeah. Blythe definately needs to be a stop.
That's where we always stop on our way to Texas. WE might have trouble with fuel if we don't.

It would be awesome to get a pretty good size convoy heading out of here. I'll see if I can grab my buddy from work with his Synergy too. Any word from Trevor lately??

I dont know about the San Diego ppl yet, but for us, its a straight shot from the 8. Qualcomm stadium - I-8 to the 10, to Phoenix. Saves us down here a few hours of gas and driving. What say the San Diegans??
