Cam questions

Hello everyone, I'm new member here and sorry I didn't introduce myself yet but I'm about to buy a cam tomorrow and I need your advices .

I have 2010 Camaro SS L99, and this is the cam I will install:
http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...csid=1092&sb=2

Questions:
-Do I need to upgrade springs/push rods/retainers/rocker arms???
-Do I need to changer timing chain? Is it a must for every cam swap??
-Do I need to install hydraulic lifters?? I don't know what type of lifters in 2010 Camaro .

Sorry this is my first time I install a cam so any advice is appreciated.

InfernoL99, give it a little time, it has only been little more than 2.5 hours since you posted. It is Sunday in the USA and most people are off work and doing various things, such as watching football. It is nice where I am at and I would bet people are outside. I have noticed since I have been a member here that posting counts are less on weekends than throughout the week. I surmise a lot of surfing camaro5 gets done at work... I am at work and can't go to the link you posted because it is blocked. I can get to camaro5 obviously...

-Do I need to upgrade springs/push rods/retainers/rocker arms???
That depends on the new cams specs. The vendor should be able to tell you. Depending on the lift of the new cam, it may need new springs. You could probably use the stock retainers, locks, and seals if they don't have too many miles on them. They are cheap insurance though. You don't need to replace your rocker arms.

-Do I need to changer timing chain? Is it a must for every cam swap??
This I don't know. I think it would be at least be partially dependent on how many miles are on the original one.

-Do I need to install hydraulic lifters?? I don't know what type of lifters in 2010 Camaro
The stock cam in your camaro is a hydraulic roller cam. It has factory hydraulic roller lifters already in it. There is no reason to replace yours if they aren't broken.

You'll have more answers before the day is over.

Yes you need to upgrade the springs with that cam. And I would not use the comp 918's

The lift in the cam, really has nothing to do with the springs specs other than what your coil bind ht. needs to be. I like to set my springs up as tight as I can sometimes as close as .040"- .060" with non anti pump up lifters. The seat pressure on that cam I would want no less than 135lbs. But I like as much as I can get with hydraulic cams.

Try mast motorsports, texas speed, Jannetty racing or ADM performance cam packages. I would also go with a DOD delete (if going with a VVT cam) or a full LS3 conversion.

Jannetty is currently installing an LS3 conversion on my L99 after we had one of the stock lifters fail. There was no way I wanted to put that stuff back in after what happened. He's using one of his blower cams so by the end of the week I should have it back. I'm curious to see how much of an improvement it is going to make.
