I LOVE the subtlety of the black stripes. I have to admit though, when I checked the car out the day it arrived at the dealership, I thought they didn't put the stripes on cause I didn't see them at first glance.

That's the exact combo I thought about going with when I first built my camaro on Chevy's website. At the time I hadn't seen IBM in person so I decided to order without any stripes. Personally, I'm glad I waited. That look (at least from the pictures) is just too subtle for me, but I'm glad you like it.

At night the stripes pretty much disappear. I have a lot of people think that my car is black when they see it at night.

I love that even thought all our cars are IBM, there are so many ways to make it your own - stripes, options, etc.

IBM needs no stripes to make it look great. I added the black stripes cause I wouldn't feel right driving such a classy looking car. I needed something a little "dirtier" or down-to-earth. Plus it makes you look twice to make sure your eyes aren't decieving you.

It fits me well, kinda fly on the wall and all of a sudden I'm there flexing some muscle. You don't really know I'm there until I 'm takin your money.

Then it's like "Hey-who's that with that awesome car ?!"

Yeah I have had the car for 3 days now and every now and then on each of those days (mostly cloudy and crappy sky's) I'd get a glimpse of the real color hiding underneath until today when I went to lunch. I tried to explain it to family and friends but a picture really is worth a thousand words. This color is absolutely amazing. On sunny days it looks like the picture, cloudy days it looks dark blue and at night is looks black until another persons headlights or street lights hit it and then it just plain glistens with metallic.

The only complaint I have is the color shift from front nose piece to the fender. Chevy really should have set up the paint so the guns painting the nose were at the same angle as those which painted the fenders so the metallic flowed the same. This is precisely why I have considered adding a stripe to the front. Like these from RiderGraphix.com:

i dont think it is the angle of the gun i thin it has something to do with the primer they have to use on the flexible parts... a lot of people have problems with it

Nice. The first pic of yours you posted from the side really helps to show the color on these cars. Me likes.

BTW: You got some dirt on your passenger rear fender... Are you slackin'?

No, its funny that you mention that, my driveway is 800 ft long, 250 ft of that is paved, you can see it in my pics, my neighbor wouldn't split the additional paving with me so I have 600+ feet of gravel, I came in and out of the driveway today taking my wife and other for rides, it's the only spot that got dirty on the car after a wash this morning...

I need to invest in the good mudflaps, painted and all...good thing my car is a toy and not a DD....

Thanks, it's an android 5mp camera and I have been shocked how good some the pictures turn out. That one has been resized so it lost a little quality too.

Do all metal flake/metallic colors have this issue? It really looks like they painted the front facia separate from the body and the gun pushed the metal flake differently. It isn't just a simple light shift like GM claims though as the seam between the facia and front fender is where the color shift takes place and the area below the seam on the fender is the same angle as the area on the facia above the seam. My wife drives a metallic colored Mustang and Ford doens't have this problem So come on GM, figure the paint out.

From what i have heard, yes all the metallic colors have issues matching flexible body parts to metal ones... it has been a big issue, almost as big as trying to match the paint for repair work... its a nightmare...

just don't order anything with metal flake paint now the only place that makes it is in japan and is shut down due to the tsunami! RJT is on indefinite back order due to that... and ford and Chrysler have the same problem with that

ha ha ha my spell check tells me that Chrysler is spelled wrong if it is not capitalized but doesn't say anything about ford lol

GM typically does not paint the front or rear fascia; it is delivered to the plant in color. Getting a perfect match even with the capabilities of companies like DuPont and BASF is still challenging.

Silver Stripes?
Haven't seen Silver stripes on a car in person yet but leaning that way. Do they "pop" in the sunlight like IBM does or are they more of a satin silver color? Hard to tell from here. Think I have finally found a '11 2SS/RS IBM/Hurst(1st choice) It's without stripes( easy to have put on at dealer. silver or white?)Black Interior(1st choice was Gray)
No sunroof(Ist choice was a sunroof but can do without.) Do any of you really miss a sunroof? Thanks.

The stripes I saw on an IBM were more satin looking. Didn't like them personally. Now if they had them with a metallic like the IBM paint - then I'd go for it.

This may not be the best picture for comparison, but the top shows the factory silver stripes and the bottom shows my aftermaket Pewter stripes.
