I thought that the MTX subwoofers that they offer as an accessory were 12's, but I did a search and it looks like they are only 10's. I think 12's will fit, but you will probably have to install them through the back seats instead of the truck opening.

Yea I saw I'd probably going to have to go through the back which is gonna be a pain, a few years back I had a buddy have to do that with his cobra and he had to unbolt all kinds of stuff to get the back to fit through.........

The rear seats fold down and the pass through arear is a good size so I don't think that would be too much of an issue, a little finagling maybe, but no taking stuff apart.

The custom boys are gonna love that huge pass-thru for mounting subs. EZ.

there's about a 2'x3' opening behind the back seat to the trunk.

No, I believe it is a stand alone option across all models.

The pass through behind the back seat wont be big enough. You are gonna have to build the box inside the trunk if you want two twelves. The airspace needed for two twelves is gonna require a box bigger then the opening they give us to sound good. Ive had to do this in several other cars. Its a pain in the ass and its going to make that rattle noise like an 87 buick with foe fiddeens in da trunk!

It sounds ghetto I know, but you could probably maneuver two or three 12" tube style boxes like bazooka tubes. I like the bass response of a ported bass tube personally.

I would be willing to bet it will, cause every one of the cars that I have done Ive put dynamat behind the licence plate with teflon washers along with a dynamat trunk kit and it still rattled. There is no way to stop the trunk latch from rattling either. Granted, it wasnt nearly as bad as the 86' buicks with the 15's(aka fiddeens, aka king kong) in the trunk. But I think those guys like the rattle for some reason.

What we do know is that all of the accessories pictures are general pictures. For instance, the exhaust picture is not necessarily the Camaro exhaust. It is just an example. It could be MTX, or it could be any other company.

(edited...meant to say Boston but was staring at my Bose here in the office....disconnect between eyes, brain, and fingers)
I wouldn't count on the "subs" coming with any model....they are an option and as such you will have to order and pay for them. The BA 9 speaker system consists of: 1 in Dash center 2 in upper door 2 in lower door 2 in pillar area 2 in rear deck

Need some help for the newbie. I've read alot of the various posts on sub options. I was just going to go for the MTX 10" subs that GMPP offers as an accessory. My dealer keeps telling me the "sub woofer is in the BA group on the 2SS model" and I keep telling him that it's an option that can be ordered from the factory/dealer installed. Does anyone know the RPO/LPO code to add to the order for the trunk mounted subs??? Trying to get my order in line before they start calling for production orders. Thanks!

1. MTX sucks 2. the two 10s are rated at 200 RMS, which i promise you is close to nothing 3. They'll probably charge you and arm and a leg for this subpar equipment. basically the only time i would say to do this is if youre one of those guys that doesnt like your system to knock. If you want soothing ***** bass tones then this is right for you. Otherwise I would say go aftermarket. My personal suggestion: 2 Memphis M3 10''s. Rated at 400RMS each. a nice 800-900 watt amp and you will be bumpin. Not to start a brand war but Ive had two memphis systems and loved them inside and out. From the look, to the resonance, and the clarity, I am a big advocate of memphis

My theory on the Dual Subwoofer package is that it will include a box that is made to fit in the trunk nicely. And if I decide I don't like how much bass they're putting out, then I can purchase whatever sub/amp combo I want, and just keep the box that GMPP designed.
But that's definately subject to change depending on the info that becomes available further down the line. |
