My 02 SS did this a couple of times. The last time that it did it, the dealer re-programmed the computer and it never happened again. Remember this though, if the car fails to start after the second attempt, the computer will not let it start for 15 minutes. Every time that you try starting it again before the 15 minutes are up adds another 15 minutes. They are cumulitive and you can work your way up to hours without reallizing it.

So I went home and tried charging the battery, charged it to 14.8 and nothing happened still so I checked all the fuses, they looked good. So I called OnStar and had the camaro towed to the dealership and at this time I'm driving a rental and waiting to hear from the dealer. I'll let ya'll know what was the cause when I get it back.

I had this happen to me when I took it to the track for the first time. It was a hot day and I was just about to stage for my third run down the track and rain hit so I turned the car off and just sat there. After 10 mins of it not letting up I decided to turn around like everyone else and park but the car would not start with the same symptoms you were having. After letting it sit for about 20 mins it started up but I now had a check engine light. Checked the code and it was said clutch position circuit high which, based on the symptoms, I assumed it meant the PCM was "seeing" the clutch as out when I was depressing it. Not sure if this is the same problem you are having since mine occurred when it was hot and yours when its cold, but who knows.

SO.... I got it back from the dealership, didn't even have the rental for half a day. They hooked it up to their computer and did every test that was by the book and found nothing.... Then they started looking to see if everything was hooked up correctly and there it was.... The starter wire had some how come undone. THE FREAKING STARTER CABLE!!!!! Something so simple to check but was one of the last things checked. I'm glad because that means that nothing is wrong with the car, but it just makes me wonder how it came loose... Thank ya'll for the suggestions...

the battery is bad or needs charged.I see batteries go bad all the time when it gets cold even new ones.It has the voltage there but not the cold crank amps to spin the engine over. Check terminal connections first though.

Hmmmm, don't know about this one, that would be in big letters in the manual I would think.

How could I find my starter cable if this happened to me? Sorry to be so ignorant. It must be somewhere between the battery and the starter I suppose.
