Replacing front seats - disabling airbags and pressure switch
I plan on adding a roll cage and replace the front seats with some racing seats over the winter.
I know I need to do something with the side airbag wiring, and I assume the passenger seat pressure switch. Anyone circumvented the airbags yet? what resistance is the circuit expecting to see? What to do with the airbags in the side pillars as the roll cage will interfere with those? I would still like to keep the steering wheel and passenger dash airbag - not mandatory though. Can anyone offer some technical assistance with this? Is it easier to just disable the entire circuit, or can I disable just the side airbags?

We've discussed this problem by PM. But let me throw this in as a "Plan B", where we retain our factory seats. This allows us to keep seat heaters and side airbags in place for cars that will also be street driven.
Schroth has 4 point racing harness featuring anti-submarine technology, which does not require a 5th or 6th strap. I have used a similar harness in the school's C6 Corvette's at the Bob Bondurant school. They use the factory seat and a harness bar. It is not as good as a 5/6 point harness, but it is close under these conditions. This is the Profi II ASM by Schroth: ![]() If you require a 1 piece race seat and a 6 point harness for your race application, this won't work. But the 4 point harness and a harness bar should be a very substantial upgrade from stock for autocross, DE events, and track days.
