That's what I've been told on the issue - this really is my last post :-)
OK...I'm trusting you to have the hot scoop and hope you are correct...and therefore this will be my last post on the issue too. But I will reserve my right to make a comment later if things go to shit

I'm just saying, there is no OFFICIAL delay announcement - and things are being done to keep the car as scheduled.

There was more than one buyer "interested" in the company, but none of them wanted to get into a bidding war. They are not only going bankrupt...they are past that and in liquidation. There are time frames the bank has to meet before they can start selling off the assets. The employees are mostly gone...the parking lot is quite empty. It was a big operation too. No court is going to be able to get GM their tooling by January 12th. There are lots of empty semi trucks w/trailers in dissaray outside the building and a security guard blocking entry into the parking lot. Kinda reminds me of "The Godfather" movie when they were getting ready to hit the mattresses.....
Thats why GM wants thier Tooling Equipment back.

Let me clarify my Point of View.
  • GM gave Cadence thier Tooling Equipment to make parts for the Camaro.
  • Cadence spent a lot of time and money Perfecting the Tooling of the Parts.
  • I'm guessing GM's Tooling Equipment is controled by a Computer to make the parts.
  • If the above is correct then Cadence has the Final Verison of the Software to make the parts loaded onto the Tooling Equipment. If not, GM will request the Final Verison .

Which means if GM gets their Equipment, their new supplier would start where Cadence stopped.

Therefore, NO REASON TO PANIC, YET.

I was at the auto show last night in Indy and spoke to the GM rep who was posted at the Camaros, and i asked him about the conflict with Cadence and he told me that he was not at liberty to discuss it. I know GM is doing everything in their power to resove this issue but I do think that this issue could cause problems when the factory opens up in a couple months. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. I want my Camaro soon but I am willing to wait if it means that my Camaro will be as expected

TEN THOUSAND CAMAROS ORDERED...and some bad news.

http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f...-camaro-73378/

Richard Truett and Dale Jewett - Automotive News

General Motors has received 10,000 advance orders for its new Camaro sports car, which offers 300 horsepower on a V-6 engine.

Mark LaNeve, GM's head of North American marketing and sales, disclosed the volume of advanced orders today prior to a conference call with reporters.

But there may be a little glitch.

GM is suing Cadence Innovation, a bankrupt interior parts supplier that is liquidating, to get back parts and equipment it needs for the Camaro.

In standard industry practice, GM handed over the parts and machines to Cadence to make the Camaro parts.

But even though Cadence is going out of business, it hasn't been in a hurry to return the equipment, as some company managers have tried to engineer a buyout to keep the firm going.

GM says that if it doesn't get the production equipment back by Jan. 12, the start of Camaro production will be delayed.

And that won't be good news to the Camaro faithful -- especially those who have a car on order.

Let's wait and see what Camaro Scotty et al have to say from the Chevy IDL meeting just a week-ish away. There will be questions about this and ABL that I'm sure that will have some "official" answer from Chevy.

We will indeed be asking these and many other questions in the
IDL. I like it how my post rang up so many passionate responses though, that means this car is going to rock because so many people are behingit!

Just a thought, any chance you could put up a post with some of the common questions you are planning on asking during the IDL? Then perhaps members could throw some other things out there that you might be able to ask. Just a thought, sorry if it is a bad one.
