We should keep contacting them so that they know the interest is there. Id be willing to pay for the app if it worked on my '10! This app would be the only reason i wouldnt cancel my onstar IMHO.

I concur. Who wants to start a list so we can show them exactly how much demand there is for the app?

I just sent them an email through their "Share your ideas" form.

Here is what I sent, feel free to edit and use it. The more they hear from us the better.

Form - https://ideas.jdmconsulting.com/osid...action=NewIdea

My letter:

"MyLink App for Palm webOS and 2010 Camaro

Dear OnStar,

I learned today that the MyLink app has just been released for the iPhone and Android mobile devices. I do not own an iPhone or Android device but I do use the Palm Pre with webOS.

I also found out that my 2010 Camaro will not have this option. Correct me if I'm wrong but its still 2010 right? I'm an IT guy so you can give it to me straight. Why wouldn't this just be a firmware update to the 2010 Camaro if its available on the 2011. You already have the access to use these features remotely so isn't just the issue of granting those permissions to the app?

I bought my vehicle in August so I still have 10 months left on my trial service. I really love having the security that OnStar provides and features like turn-by-turn navigation. Right now I'm on the fence as to whether I would extend my subscription at the end of the trial. I need to justify the monthly cost and little options like having such an app available for my phone AND car would go a long way.

I look forward to your response. Thank you!"

A cool way to unlock the car. Haha yes its kinda pointless, but its also more convenient and the nifty factor is through the roof.

yes, it's on the android market, just search onstar, it's free.

2010 owners don't renew your onstar subscription and when they ask why not, just tell them because the app don't work on my 2010 camaro,

I bet they will do something.

Hah, somewhat agreed, but I also plan on using this when it gets colder to start my car from my desk after work. If I leave the defroster and heated seats on when I park in the morning, after my 5 minute walk to my car, it's already warmed up and ready to go.

I just got the following response from their Twitter account

@TheReal_OnStar - "@TROndrey Hi Timothy, our 2011 vehicles are equipped with the OnStar Gen 9 hardware which is needed for mobile app functionality."

I replied and pointed them to this thread.

Damn near scared the shite out of my mechanic

Downloaded the app and wanted to test it forgetting for a moment my car was at my mechanics getting my Borla catback installed. Can you imagine him having the car up on the rack, the old catback half off and suddenly the car fires up.
edit: I had heard it would only work on iPhone 4's but it seems to have loaded OK on my iPhone 3g. Wife has an iPhone 4 so will load it there also.

Another response from their Twitter account:

@TheReal_OnStar - "@TROndrey The Gen 9 hardware is more than just the mirror. We are currently looking for a solution for older models and will keep you posted"

Probably a way to say go away, it still would be neat to have... and have to admit it would really push me to renew but not that big of a deal.
