Bring back the Yenko

Okay Don Yenko is the original

Yenko Camaros

Those Were Sick

Don Yenko Was A Chevy man if their ever was

Donald ("Don") Yenko (May 27, 1927 – March 5, 1987[1]) was an American racecar driver best known for creating the Yenko Camaro, a high-performance version of the Chevrolet Camaro.

[edit] Biography
In 1957, Yenko set up a performance shop for Chevrolet vehicles. The customers could either order high performance parts or have their car modified by Yenko's mechanics. In 1967, when Chevrolet began selling the Camaro, Yenko began to modify SS Camaros by replacing the original L-78 396 in³ (6.4 L)engine with a Chevrolet Corvette's L-72 427 in³ (7.0 L) and upgrade the rear axle and suspensions. He also modified other Chevrolet vehicles like Chevelle and Nova by fitting them with L-72 engines.

The 1970s saw the decline in muscle cars due to higher insurance premium and tighter emission rules, Yenko began to modify Chevrolet Vega with spoiler, turbocharger and design graphics. Due to difficulties with United States Environmental Protection Agency‎ certification, he only sold the modified Vega without a turbocharger. Instead, the turbocharger sold separately at the Yenko dealership. In 1972, Yenko stopped selling modified cars and began publishing a performance parts catalog from cosmetic modification to engine modification. One of his notable product was the ZL-1 engine and he produced them under permission from Chevrolet. In 1981, Yenko made his last modification, the Turbo Z Camaro. He added a turbocharger to 350 in³ (5.7 L) engine. He sold the Yenko Chevrolet dealership in 1982, which had been family owned since 1934.

Yenko, along with his three passengers, died in March 1987 while piloting his Cessna 210M into land near Charleston, West Virginia. The landing was hard, causing the aircraft to bounce and Yenko to lose control. It then hit a dirt bank, fell into a ravine and crashed.[2]

He is no longer alive but im sure as shooting that he woulda made a 5th Gen. Yenko Special Edition

He has to have some relatives that would okay the idea////

I am saying that we here at Camaro5.com

They sure improved the motorcycle! Want proof? Look at a harley davidson(a.k.a. boat anchor) next to a honda. Name something a harley does and a honda does it 10 times better. But I think a Yenko would be bad ass. Im sure an aftermarket company will make a replica sticker kit for the 5th gen but thats as close as youll get.

I vote that the sound of a Harley is better than the sound of a honda.

Though exhaust sound is always just personal preference.

By the way, your sig pic cracks me up. Especially when looking at your post count.

Yes. I was being serious when I said I thought it was funny. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you're being sarcastic again - because the alternatives are "retard" and "douche."

Now that we have $7.50, we have enough money to buy one of the Type R badges that gives my Impreza 300 ponies!

Mosse, that's pretty impressive. Unfortunately, I don't think I can get a car with so little trunk space. Where am I going to put Shunt?

With that contribution, we're at $27.50!

The decals are scavenged from a '69 Yenko Camaro kit.

Someone did bring back the Yenko. The classic anyway. I saw an article in the March 2009 issue of Super Chevy where a company is making what's called "continuation" Yenkos. Check out the article: http://www.superchevy.com/features/c...o_camaro/index.
Company website too : www.classicautomotiverestoration.com

I don't know where this Honda owns Yenko nonsense came up. Honda does NOT and never will own the Yenko name.

HOWEVER Yenko Chevrolet has ceased to exist, and is now a Honda dealership. Dealers are not owned in any way by the Manufacturers.

It would be up to the Yenko family to release their name to a new line of Camaros. And considering that they have a relationship with Honda, its possible they would not.

The truth of the matter is that the Yenko organization that produced the Yenko Camaros has long been gone, people, equipment, everything. If someone bought the rights from the Yenko family all you would really have is a Yenko Camaro in name with no guarantee that it would be an outstanding performance version. I personally would rather see the Yenko Camaro remain in history than see someone buy the rights and produce Yenkos that are nothing more than special decal packages.

First off Yenko Honda is no longer. It is now South Hills Honda.
Second off the dealership was sold in 1982 to non-family. At this point if South Hills no longer owns the name than anyone could use it...
