Air Ride thoughts....
OK, so this thread is either going to go really well....or spiral down in a ball of flaming glory...
![]() If you hate it you can make any comment you want... but for every negative comment you have to give one supporting fact of why you dont like it or how they are not a good product for X amount of reasons...why is this a bad path to go down for exp? and if you like or have it done or know someone that has it whatever... please drop any info you can. IM NOT SAYING THAT IM DEAD SET ON IT... Trust me I have built many cars with coilovers and springs...track susp to street driven setups. i just want to try somthing new and build more of a show and go car. I love the slammed look at shows, but I dont want to deal with setting coils...and rebuilding them and I just think I would be tempted again to go all out and build a track setup that makes me want to cry when its on the street and it rips my bumper off evertime I try to pull into any place im trying to go... (I live in nj) I have a 68 427 camaro that I will have fun with to so I got somthing to go fast. I had a 05 sti with a built block and bigger turbo with coils and ever susp mod I could find and afford... so I want somthing new and eyecatching for the streets.

I love bags on classics, trucks, and luxury cars. However, never felt the need to put them on a sports car, too much weight.
If you're more into show, why not?

well it would be my first veture into the "show" world... and I agree with you my STi was gutted, with carbon fiber hood, roof, fenders, trunk, front bumper diffuser and wing... so coming from that and being almost 4000lbs with me in the camaro already I kinda of giving up on trying to be lite... you know?
But this is the issue im having! i love the look but im a perfromance guy... but this car I was going to try somthingdiffernt. and not lose my powertrain warrenty right away like the last car and keep a nice quick good looking car. its either this or full blown pafdt coils and sways... however If I wanted a track setup i could have just kept the STi..

Air suspension doesn't necessarily give up performance.
Weight gain is only based on the control system you decide to put in. |

Expected weight gain is approximately 20lbs...I think we all know some drivers that could stand to lose that |

Sorry it took me so long to get back on here. I was going crazy with SEMA builds and work. Ok let me try and cover all these questions.
Ian is right with the weight gain, depending on the management system its gonna be about a 20lb gain. We are really a performance teamed company. Everyone dedicated to the Life Style and Performance segment of Air Lift Company, is some sort of racer. All gearheads at heart we love to have fun. Here is a video of our 2010 Camaro on stock tires. It see's over 1g through some of the turns. The same car also did the Silver State Challenge in Nevada, in the 150mph class, it finished 11 and averaged a speed of 157mph. That was also driving from Grand Rapids, MI all the way to Nevada and Back. With 2 quick trips to Vegas for cage changes and to replace a blown tire. ![]() Not to talk about Mustangs, but our 2006 GT, hit 1.34g's at the same track on our kit. You will def hear some compressor noise in the cabin. You can always deaden the sound some with damping material like a piece of dynamat. The compressor usually runs for 45sec to a minute and a half. Aside of that its more of a hum and the radio at low volume will drowned out the noise. The install of the struts and rears is cake. The fronts are a direct bolt on, and the rear requires a little bit of trimming in the top pocket. This is to clear our upper mount. We moved away from the factory stud mount and went to a bushing with a through bolt to better help with articulation and improve handling. No cutting to get the car low. To get it as low as the red camaro from status, you would have to go with a mustang 2 style front end and a solid axle rear with some mini tubs. But it does go low with out any cutting. As for wheels I have seen a lot of sizes ran on these beast. The widest I've really ran into is 22x12 rear and 22x10 front. I can get the off set of these wheels if you'd like. You can hit me up with questions anytime at, jjenson@airliftcompany.com |

WOW, Thanks you got all the Qs! I know the "redrum" car is seriouse and I dont think im going to go even close to that thing in the terms of mods... haha
but the TJIN car is kinda closer to the look I want... so this can be done with this setup? Thanks Jesse for all the info, this is going to be a goal for spring... but prob will turn into a over the winter project.

Yes this kit will do what the green Tjin car does, as it was our tour vehicle for the 2010 season. I installed the kit on the blue Tjin camaro for SEMA this year. Both are amazing cars, and many props to the Tjin brothers.

Not lowered yet. I have a good reason but not the time or place to discuss. Looking forward to seeing your build. Enjoy your new house because I know you worked your tail off on it!
