Aftermarket tunnel brace

This is for all the people that were having trouble with the exhaust hitting the stock tunnel brace, and bought an aftermarket one. Have you had any more problems with the exhaust hitting after you replaced the brace? I just want to make sure this will solve the problem before I go and fork over money for one. Also which one did you go with?

I have the LSR aluminum brace with 3 inch exhaust. No problems with it.

Guess it would depend on how much your exhaust is sagging there. My 3" fit's over the stock no problem but I've seen some exhausts that it is just better to remove the brace because they hang so low.

I was wondering about this also. I can here a definate rattle when I am getting on the throddle. I can only hear it then so i figure it has to be something with the exhaust but no sure. I have stock exhaust from extender tubes back and muffler delete. Would the brace help in that situation?

I don't consider myself 'cheap' but since I don't show car I got some good plated bolts at hardware store and used some 'INDUSTRIAL STENGHTH RUBBERLIKE STUFF' my dad got at a paper mill. Several washers stacked would also worked. I run a 3" all the way and this worked for about 10 bucks by just spacing the OEM brace down. Just my experience/.02

Anyone know if the BMR tunnel brace gives more clearance? Or is it the a beefier version of the stock brace?

I removed mine. No aftermarket brace would clear my exhaust.

Not to thread jack but I sent you a PM.

My current stock tunnel brace is OK even with my 3" JBA exhaust. But I'm still looking to replace it.

This isn't a good thing. That brace isn't there just to keep the exhaust from falling down. It's there to aid in stiffening up the chasis of the car across the tunnel.

I tackled it from a different perspective. I welded a exhaust hangar on the driverside, near the rear diff. Pushed up the pipes and welded it on. No more banging over bumps and using the OEM brace.

Blah blah, whatev. It doesn't make an appreciable difference.
