2010 Convertible Information Found...

Yes, I said 2010. Now we all know there were no 2010 convertibles made, but they obviously were preparing.

I'm sure it was just forward thinking, but there is a neat "easter egg" if you will in the 2010 Camaro Owner's Manual.

I was piddling around looking up fuse location info for no apparent reason, and on page 9-48 I found this diagram for the rear fuse block:

The original design was based off a convertible knowing there would eventually be one. The coupe just happened to come out first

Well, just like:

-Some parts on the ZL1 are labeled Z28
-There is one 1983 Corvette
-And I'll swear til the day that I die that I've seen an ad for a C5 Z06 Vert even though we know they didn't make one(I think a teaser ad went out in a magazine and it just didn't happen)

I'm sure there are tons of little secrets insiders can tell you that they were going to launch this, then went with that, and so forth.

Nothing unusual about that at all.
The convertible was planned all along to be released for the 2011 model year.
They had the convertible concept on the 2007 Power Tour

Sure would like to see that ad!
The C5 Z06 was never planned to have a convertible option.
It was based on the "fixed roof" coupe that was released for the 1999 model year.
The Z06 was released for 2001.

Maybe one 83 LEFT. There were more made. I got to sit in an 83 at the factory that was destined for Detroit when my dad worked at Corvette. And in reality the 84s were virtually the same car with a different VIN (and obviously a different fuel cell).

I know there was a prototype convertible Camaro, and that a vert was a planned event although not for 2010 MY, and darn near didn't happen for 2011 anyway due to the top company going under. That's what makes it odd is that this is actually in the 2010 OM for a model that wasn't even made yet. Makes me want to pull the trunk cover and see what the fuse block actually has on it.

The day I saw this concept Camaro at the 2007 GM Carlisle Pa display,
I knew I would order one the day it became available. Nuts- just had
to have Summit White, so I didn't get mine until 8/21/09.
