Headers+hi flo cats+oem cat back system?
I've been looking around on the exhaust sticky and I was wondering if anyone is running 1 7/8 headers w/ hi flow cats with the oem cat back system. With or without the stock mufflers . How does it sound and what are your impressions? I don't want to buy an aftermarket cb system if there are no gains in performance. From what I see the stock system is fine for what I need. I would consider different mufflers, I really like the way flowmasters sound with headers.

I will be running 1 7/8" headers and Hi-Flo cats with the factory cat back in the near future. Idle and cruise sounds just a little louder but at WOT it sounds great IMHO. I was told by several shops that this would support a Maggie and that swapping it out w/aftermarket cat back would offer little or no HP gain. Search Youtube for "2010 Camaro headers with stock exhaust" and you should find a few vids.

We've done similar setups to what you're looking for Outlaw. Give us a call if you have any questions.
Sincerely, Rick

Like mikeSS said, I couldn't stand the look of the mufflers (garbage cans) handing down in the back. UGLY! They had to go.

Yea, thats the reason why I'm considering different mufflers and just getting an idea of what sounds good. If the stockies weren't so ugly I woudn't care but dam! I hate have too many choices! lol

A Few links....
LT's w/factory cat back LT's w/factory cat back cammed My factory GFX kit seems to help hide them a bit. The pic below was taken at a very low angle. Standing behind the car they are almost not noticeable. ![]()

I'd get headers that include an X-pipe.

I agree that the stock mufflers are nasty looking. As far as horsepower goes, you would gain few ponies with an X-Pipe but not the mufflers. Mufflers are mostly for sound and looks.

My brother runs american racing headers and cats on stock catback. Sounds pretty mean.
