Family First!!

Prayers to you and your family.... Cars and shows are always (after) family concerns!!!

Since I sold /gave it away my 000039 Camaro to buy a house, for my youngest daughter and 4 grand kids (Brain dead son-in-law ran out on them)

I guess I better call and cancel my room at QUALITY INN = aka - Holiday Inn Oshawa Conference Centre

I think someone said there was a waiting list, so some nice Camaro person will get a call? Hope so ...

Life is surprising eh?

I called and told Ont Camaro club to give my T-shirt and passes to some worthy member

Have a good time!! Carl

Oshawa

I can't come either not because of family issues. I had to switch weekends at work. I could come drive 800+miles for one day and then come all the way back the following day? I got my passport in hand and everything:( I have to put my job first. Without my job I wouldn't even own the camaro because I couldn't afford the payment on it since both of my parents are retired and poor:( and I have no husband. I will be calling up the host hotel this morning so hopefully someone who wants a room will get dibs

BBOMG Update!

This is a quick note to inform those who may not be aware that we have added a DJ and Karaoke following the conclusion of the banquet Friday night at the Quality Inn, so dancing will begin at 9:30 and conclude at 1 a.m. Dance to today's popular tunes, make a request or grab a mic and entertain the crowd, it will be a blast! Lisa Graves (CajunCamaroChic) has booked the DJ, so see her the evening of the banquet to make your contribution or drop your donation off when you arrive for the banquet. After the DJ has been paid, any additional funds will be donated to charity!

Also, we have put together an interactive map you may like to download to your smart phone or computer which will help you visualize the area and locations while in Oshawa. You will also find this information in your BBOMG Program upon arrival. If you have a Google account, just load the link into your My Maps section and open in Google Earth.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?client=firefox-a&hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=200096486635109049881.0 004a4ceaef32024c5482&z=13

A few things to know about Ontario traffic laws.
* You can confidently drive at 120 KPH (70 mph) without getting a ticket on highways which start with the number "4" eg 401.
* You can turn right on a red in Ontario
* Orange lines and dashes on highways signify a construction zone.
* Radar detectors are illegal and can be confiscated on the spot.
* Using a cell phone or similar device while driving a vehicle is a $125 fine.

Safe travels and we'll see everyone soon!

Great info Rick, but I just want to make one correction and add 1 bit of info on speeding.
1) Distractive Driving Law: the use of cellphones or any electronic device (i.e GPS,etc), eating, all done while driving, is illegal and subject to fine of $155
Here's a link to the law's info:

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/saf...ng/index.shtml

2) Speeding/Street Racing Law: Here's a link that explains our speeding/street speeding laws, pretty self explanitory.
Speed 50kms OVER THE POSTED SPEED , you will be charged, licence suspended, and your ride impounded, ON THE SPOT.

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/about/bill203.shtml

Sorry for the newbie question.
I have only been outside the states once ,as a kid we visited Niagra Falls.
Anyway ,do we need to have Canadian money ,will US dollars work.Is it easier to use a credit card?
I also saw on the map what looks like toll bridges. What do we need for those?
Thanks for any info.

Credit cards will be fine (just remember there will be an exchange rate on your statement). Canadian cash would be fine too..... Not many places (if any) take american cash

Oh and I can't imagine anyone would take highway 407... but just incase be warned it is a toll road. There are no toll booths and no toll plazas to slow you down. Out-of-Province users, including those from the U.S.A., who choose to use 407 ETR are responsible for all tolls, fees and interest under the Highway 407 Act. At the end of each monthly billing cycle, the all-electronic system calculates all tolls, fees and interest and a bill is sent in Canadian dollars, due upon mailing.

If you're crossing the border from Port Huron, Mi to Sarnia, On there is the Blue Water Toll Bridge. It costs $3 US or $3 CN each way.

Moved my registration to the host hotel, have to suffer with a double instead of the King registered at the other hotel, but better to be at the host hotel, methinks!
