better mileage

might sound dumb but i am looking to buy a house that is nearly 35 miles one way from my place of work. since the 2011 SS is my only option it will be my daily.

according to my car im getting an average of 17 mpg... according to my math its more like 15.5, the car is bone stock by the way and 80% of my driving is city stop and go 1-4 gears.

will a rotofab intake and or exhaust (corsa) increase my mileage at all? if i do buy this house and move within the next 4 months my drive will be all highway.

well, i believe the CAI will and a tune can even give you better MPG,the tune will make your engine work more efficiently. i am not sure what if a exhaust will give you better MPH. but if you go with corsa you will have no drone with that drive to work

I think looking for MPG gains is the wrong reason to mod anything on your car. are you just trying to justify it to your S/O or something? : P

If you drive 65 mph on the highway you can get 24 mpg, with the L99 anyway bone stock.

Um, care to explain how a catback is going to increase your MPG, especially on a stock car?

Well just by looking at the resonator and the huge mufflers on the L99 especially the exhaust flow is very restrictive so think it makes sense that better flow would = better mileage

I remember seeing a thread where someone cut open the resonators to see the internals .. it has to be the worst setup ive ever seen

I realize they are big but they are far from restrictive. Find that pic and trace it out. It's a straight through design with a helmholtz tube in the big suitcase. Why do you think there is little to nothing to be gained, in terms of HP, from a aftermarket exhaust. Catbacks/axlebacks are for sound, headers are for power.

I can't find that picture but from what I remember theres the 2 mid pipes after the catalytic conv that go into the resonator and in the resonator it's just like another muffler and on the other end there's the 2 other pipes that lead out to the mufflers .. all that exhaust has to build up more to be pushed out of the resonator than through an xpipe. which is why the stock exaust is so quiet. with the xpipe it just goes straight through.

maybe I'm wrong but I still think my catback allows for better flow..
unless my car magically decided to get better milage, coincidentally at the same time I installed the exhaust
