60* V6 3.0 turbo 3rd gen 400+ HP

Stuff is getting extreme in the 3rd gen V6 camp, but wonder why its takes 20+ years for folks to start to show what the 60* V6 from that era can do,
instead of just being counted out by those who never bothered to try.

"481 hp @ 6,200 rpms
438 ftlbs @ 5,300 rpms

these numbers were at 16 psi from a gt45 turbo and are flywheel numbers"

its a low power platform to begin with, and he said it himself, he blew the engine up on the dyno. can't handle much power.

others were smart enough not to go FI on a bad starting platform, I am guessing.

I am sure others have experimented with this in the past : P

3.1s are good motors, IF its built right it can produce. i know a few friends that did it. one actually put a turbo on a 2.8.... why? "just because". it was quick, ran low 12's and it looked like the biggest pos too. I think the 3.8s are a little tougher tho. not exactly sure just what i heard.

"the verdict on the droped valve is that the retianers could just not withstand the spring presures the valve springs had 215# seat presure and around 490#'s open presure, so im going with different retianers and locks this time around"

Good god.. makes me wish I hadn't passed up that 1K on an 68K mi 86 2.8 5spd.

Though with a dying clutch I think it would have been more than a 1K investment before Turbos got involved. :/
