dead audio any one else had this
driving to work on monday my audio died.
i was using my droid X over usb for music and the audio went silent now i have no handsfree, music of any type fm am cd or usb. parking assist. the display shows the info as songs change or the bluetooth phone icon on the HUD but no sound. i took it into the Bob Stall dealership service says GM enginneering says not to fix it until they figure out what is wrong. has anyone else had this? honestly how could they fix it if they don't know what is wrong?
That aside it is most likely going to be one of two things: either the factory amp died or the radio output died.

Replace everything and figure out what was wrong later. Obviously that wont work for most things, but like you said it's either in the amp or the head unit. And its not like they can fix either anyway, the fix will be a replacement. As a customer I don't want my time wasted like this, and in the mean time this guy is driving around with no audio humming songs.

i saw another thread where they said some of the parts are not available in the parts system and it could be a couple of weeks for a replacement. to me that says there are more folks having problems. the audio cut out once before but it came back i called service and they said without it malfuncTioning they couldn't figure out what was wrong.
when it happened again not they push it up to GM engineering. well at least the repair order is still open. i guess i'll just listen to the voices in my head until they get it fixed, Gee maybe i should of kept the XM subscription when the trial ended. john

tired of not having noise other that the voices in my head,:(
I tried the following 1. I removed the positive battery terminal for 5 minutes. turned the key on. audio still was dead. 2. removed the side covering to get to the rear fuse panel. removed and reinstalled the two 30 amp RDO and AMP fuses with the battery connected. turned on the key on hooray i have audio back. next time it happens i will do one fuse at a time and see which one does it. i am sure there will be a next time the bad part is this is another firmare problem not sure what module it is in so why does the system lock up and when will they fix it. the fuse labeled AMP is the one that is affecting my audio.
it seems to cutout if i tap on the fuse block the amp will cut out and not come back on without reseating the fuse. it looks like one of the contacts inside of the fuse block is spread and does not make good contact. I have it working now and will talk to the dealership about the repair when GM engineering comes up with it's fix and they install it. John
