2011 Camaro convertible

Hey Folks

I am looking at putting an offer on a 2011 vert SS/RS package. The Car currently has 26,000 km. They are asking $30,988 Canadian . I am hoping to get some advice on what to offer. There will be 13 percent tax added to the price. The dealer has had the car for over 6 months on there Lot. I was considering offering 32,500 including tax.

Thank you

Wow 13% that's crazy but for that price I think you can find an 12 or 13 without The top issues.

You can do better than that. I think that price is too high to pay for a 4 year old car.

You're better off staying away from the 12's altogether....mine is STILL having issues because nobody really has a clue on how to properly reinstall. This last round they put the top on tto tight. The dealership service rep even told me "you're probably going to have to bring it back after 1 month so we can send it back to the top shop & have it loosened up, but GM says you must go 1 month without putting the top down so it can adjust properly"

OP, you would be better off posting this question in the CANADA section...

most folks in the USA don't know that we pay alot more for cars here.So the brand new cars cost more initially and that is reflected in the resale prices.

When I purchased my 5th gen, I could have gotten a 2SS/RS in the usa for the same price that we pay for a 2LT/RS (at that time)...I did not purchase from the USA as GM (along with other manufacturers) don't honour the new car warranty for a period of time, along with some minor modifications that would be necessary to legally license it here. And with the top problems I have had, it was a good thing that I didn't...Top problems now seem to be solved.Would I have enjoyed the rumble of the extra 2 cylinders...of course...

Try looking up the value on Canadian Black Book and also compare to similar vehicles on autotrader.ca, You can then get an average price...I would play a bit of hardball with the dealer on price...They have had it on their lot for a long time and it is winter here, so not too many buyers for a convertible right now.I would think it is the wrong time of year for them to sell the car and the right time for a buyer to purchase the car.

Your thinking re price seems to be correct...get a price in mind, stick to your guns...They have a price they need/want to get because of what they paid for it at trade in, but at this time of year, I would think you would be in a better position for negotiations....GOOD LUCK!!

Hello

Thanks i have been on auto trader and the majority of the cars are priced higher or they have way more KM on them . I check the black book trade in value was around 26000 to 28500. I thought of trying to offer 32000 all in . The car is in great shape. The top appears to be in great shape. I have also noticed a ton on V6 convertibles on auto trader .

It's nice. I bought my convertible in February. My test drive was basically 5 km but I just couldn't pass on the deal
Never regretted it since, I parked it under the car port with its cover and waited for spring. In New Brunswick spring takes a long time to get here, put 10k on it so far

I would try for a 2013 if possible due to the redesigned mechanism, water bag and fabric. You are close to the states and could find a 2013 2SS for 30k. I'm not sure what fees and registration issues you would have bringing it back to Canuckistan.

Not a bad price. I'm near Toronto and got my 2011 with 18,000km in September for $34800. I found an actual Canadian review of the 2011 convertible 2SS (not sure if it was the RS package or not) and it retailed for over $50K before taxes!

I'm happy as hell with the car except for the convertible top rub marks. Check that out closely (perhaps it's been fixed already). There is no way I could afford a newer one and I'm lucky because I found out my car didn't get on the road until May 2012 which means I still have warranty so they're going to replace my top.

Glad to hear that, but try to get them to extend the warranty on all the parts of the new top for a few years since it is an issue that could keep happening.

I don't think GM is offering the extension of the warranty on Canadian cars for some reason. Maybe it violates some Canadian law (just guessing here). I did get one on my top after my first 5th bow broke. Mine is good till next April or 80,000 miles. I will reach the time long before the miles. I did have the recommended top fixes done which seem to have fixed the rub marks by the doors. I have had two 5th bows replaced but other than that I am still on my original canvas, mechanism and water bag and mine was one of the first convertibles made Jan 2011 build date.

OP, I wouldn't worry too much about buying an 11 if the top is in good shape. Some people did go through nightmares, but most of the tops worked fine. I had an early 12 convertible built well before the big change to the water management bag, and it worked fine. The drain hose was loose when I bought it, but once that was fixed I never had an issue with leaking or fabric wear. I did use the tonneau cover religiously which I believe will prevent the fabric wear issues.

Just make sure to check it out thoroughly before you buy it. Put the top up and down and make sure it is smooth with no rubbing anywhere. Make sure the seal below the rear window is tight against the body when the top is up (5th bow issue). If possible take it to a coin op or touchless car wash and check for leaks, make sure to check the carpet in the rear footwells for water or signs of water in the past. I can't speak to what a good price is in Canada though. Good luck.

Well right now the temp outside is -13 so I am not sure about putting the top up and down . I took pictures of the back of the roof where it meets the body and it has a nice tight fit. I just have a concern about the area beside the small side windows but not really sure . I will try to post pictures of the roof . The car is dirty because it is on the dealer lot.

Wow -13

Yeah, you don't want to put the top up and down in those conditions let alone water testing. Does the dealer have a service garage where you could try the top?
