Purchase Question

So I wanted to wait until all the shenanigans about the IDL slowed down to post this thread about ordering. If I walk into a dealer in August and say I want a 2LT RS.... Do you think I will have to wait to order it in the second allotment or will they have the v6's there, assuming the first allotment is out by this time?

doubt they will have anything at the dealership, but that would still be part of the allocation process (everything is before october)

I think you may see them on the lots, but the big question is what you will have to pay the dealers for the car. If you find one that is actively for sell it may be over MSRP.

Prepare to pay $5,000 over MSRP at most dealers.

Actually you just might luck out, Chevy is sending our a LT Camaro that the dealers do not have a say in ordering and it is definitley going to be an LT model. If you get the right dealer you could score. You can also keep in touch with me to see what model I receive. We would love to have your business.

Here's the deal. You're going to want a Camaro regardless. If August is when you can afford the down payment, then you place your order in August. The truth is that Camaros won't be taking over the streets once production begins, so you could very well be one of the first ones in your area with one, even if you have to wait until the next February to get one.

In theory, if you order before a Camaro is available, then it will show that there are enough interested buyers to maintain or increase production in the future. In the current market, we need to protect our interests. That means showing GM that we are going to place orders even when it is impossible to get the car in a reasonable amount of time. I will do it when I have $15k for a down payment plus $15k for extra savings to make payments.

The moral of the story is that you shouldn't buy a car before you can afford it, so, if you have to wait to order after the allotment is filled, then wait. Buying a car before you can afford it is bad for America, as we've seen in the market crash that has been fueled by bad credit and loans that cannot be paid. Ordering when allotment is available is bad for car enthusiasts because waiting gives GM the impression that demand is low, creating a reason to lower production. Order when you have the money.
