Lets talk 11s in the 1/4

So I sold my 11 sec cutlass for my camaro SS, with that in mind I want my camaro to run mid 11s. I really dont want to go super charged, at first I did but the cost of the blower and other parts I want will be to pricy!

What I would like to do is run mid 11s and still be completly reliable! I would like to hear what you guys would do and why. My thoughts were one of LGs comp cam kits, headers, cold air, dyno tune, upgrad axles, and maybe some sort of drag wheel setup, or just a set of nittos, but I dont know if that would be enough. Basicly the goal is to do it right, but not brake the bank.

In addition to those things you will need a good suspension package and I would look at more aggressive rear end gears.

For 11s? leave the axles alone. Practice on your launches and such. Driver mods are important too.

Look at the fast list on here, seems pretty easy to break these cars into the 11s.

Well, my car is an automatic, and I can run pretty consistant 11.5' @ 118mph in average weather. I ran a bunch of 11.6's @ 119mph in St. Louis at the LSX shootout in the heat, but never got to go back to the track when I came back after when it cooled down, most likely would have been easy 11.4's. Anyway, I can go over what is done to my car:

New Era OTR Intake
American Racing Headers 1 7/8 primaries with cats
New Era Custom axle back exhaust (about 40 lb weight reduction)
Light weight battery with New Era custom mount (about 35 lb weight reduction)
New Era custom cam package
Darin Morgan ported stock casting heads
New Era ported intake and throttle body
160 degree thermostat
Powerbond underdrive crank pulley
New Era billet tensioner
Precision 3600 rpm torque converter
Nitto drag radials on the stock heavy @$$ rims
Stock brakes
Stock short block
Stock gears
Stock suspension other than Pfadt lowering springs
Race weight 3965 lbs.

The goal for next year is to be in the 10's naturally aspirated with the stock short block, I intend on doing 4.10 gears, ported FAST 102mm intake, and hopefully some lightweight rims and different tires, and maybe a 6 point roll bar so I don't get kicked out of the track. This car is my daily drive for spring/summer/fall, rides and drives perfect, and I intend on keeping it that way. If you are interested in a package deal to be in the same range, let me know. Also, any questions, just post em or feel free to contact me directly.

I have not been to the track with my car yet because I just got it, these cars cross the traps in 3rd with an M6 right? If I were to do gears, how much gear before I would have to shift 4th? I would like to keep it down to 2 shifts. Seems like it would only slow me down to be in the middle of 4th.
Mike thanks for the info, do you have stock axles? I feel like a cam and header package with a few other bolt-ons would be enough power to run 11s as long as I could get the 60fts down!

Yes, stock axles driveshaft etc., but I also have an automatic. With a standard trans, it's not a bad idea to do axles and driveshaft because the launch shocks the drivetrain much harder.
