Tried to order in Central Illinois

Miles Chevrolet - Decatur
Salesman required:
1. $1000 - non refundable deposit
2. mandatory undercoating
3. mandatory tire insurance (that's right, tire insurance)
4. manadatory destination charge

in all, they tried to add over 2k in extras, after saying "we never charge over Sticker"
He also said, "all the dealers in our area got together and agreed to charge for these dealer added value items"
To finish it all off, he had no pictures / samples of paint, interior, or options information.

The salesman said he had 7 orders already, and #3 in line backed out (and wasn't getting his 1k back) and I could have his spot in line! I wonder what #'s 4-7 would have to say about that!

If there is a dealer in central Illinois (or anywhere between St. Louis & Chicago) that has a 1st allocation camaro for sale, and will not insult a customer ready to order a car sight unseen, please let me know.
Thank you.

The deposit and destination charge are normal, the rest is BS including the deal that all dealers got together on options and pricing, that is illegal and price fixing. Just an FYI

You could try Jack Schmitt in O' Fallon IL. He's charging MSRP, with a $500 fully refundable deposit.

Not sure how many of his 9 allocations are left.

Good luck.

tell your dealer that they arent allowed by state law to force you to buy optional dealer installs, and for telling you and the rest of thier customers they would be required that the dealer has become legally culpable

Sorry to hear of your visit.

I doubt you'll find someone with no orders in now. But we'll keep hoping for the best so you can get your order in -

But this is such a perfect opportunity!

Your dealer is an idiot. Your dealer is so stupid that it amazes me that your dealer was able to communicate this nonsense to you at all. This sort of stupidity represents a clear and present danger to society as a whole, but the unfortunate truth is that locking up all of these stupid dealers would crowd every prison and sanitarium worldwide. Perhaps your dealer was repeatedly the victim of a mad scientist's experiments or simply cursed with being raised by cavemen. In any case, your dealer lacks the intelligence to function as a normal human being. I would recommend finding a dealer with slightly less obvious mental and social disorders, although doing so would represent a very difficult venture on your part.

I believe Weber Chevy in Columbia Il still has allocations, however like most dealers they are not as well educated as the members here.

I'll give you another one.

Your dealer is an idiot. Like many dealers, this is only obvious when your dealer speaks. A mysterious deficiency, dealeritis has become a contagious condition with rare immunities. As a result, the vast majority of dealers tend to be inflicted with uncontrollable stupidity, unforgivable product knowledge, and the misguided desire to sell at prices that will result in repossession. No one knows how dealeritis began, but it is now a fundamental impediment that faces dealers worldwide.

Good thing you wised up. Its amazing when you start thinking about GM's problems and you want to blame the corporation but you take a look at some of these greedy ass dealers and that sure doesn't help the company. Plus some of them don't have much of a clue about the product they even sale. My opinion is if you do bad business you should fail, ones that do business right deserve to carry on.
