Find your local NASA region for road racing they have some great entry level driving events, you will need to develop some driving skills before spending alot of time and money on your car, you will need to start with a good seat and a five piont harness then on to the suspension and brake upgrades as you learn more about driving at speed. I started road racing my 1984 camaro 6 years ago with NASA after a freind recomended them.It took awhile to get a good handle on it but I have just won the great lakes regional tta championship for 2010.Once you go you will be hooked. We are a dealer for spohn chassis parts they are great for the third gen camaro's you will need a steering brace on the third gen if you do much racing with your car,it won't help the handling that much but will prevent cracks on the frame behind the steering gear box.If you have any questions let me know.
