NAIAS 2009 Camaro Photos (lots of photos!)
Just got home from the Detroit car show. Been going every year since 1995 and I will say this year, although no dissapointing, it was no where as busy or as lavish as other years. Well with that said I will just post my Camaro pictures. Enjoy!

ya, i just got back too. This was the first time i have seen one in person and a 2D picture can not show the true amazingness (idk if thats a word) of this car. It also did not feel cheap at all while inside. This wait just got a lot harder.

Yeah I was quite impressed with the fit and finish and material feels. Also car does seem "smaller" in person than pictures suggest. Seeing the Challenger afterwards definately cements that statement. That car is HUGE!

Sunroof
These are the first pics I've seen of the sunroof open, and repositioned. I've seen pics of the sunroof open before, but didn't know it slid backwards like that. Looks like it is back maybe a foot or so in these pics. Good photos of the sunroof fully opened, thanks!

Thanks for the excellent pics. They are of great quality. The interior pics show the cars off as well. Glad you got to see them in person.

I made the 3 hour drive in crappy weather to see the car today and it was worth it. You must see it in person, Iam in love with it that much more now. The back end of it looks much better in person as well. Sadly this car is an ex vin so its not a captive test fleet. By the way I used to think the same as alot of you guys about the sunroof but after seeing it and sitting in it I like it. The sunroof is fairly close to your head so you get that wind through hair feeling.

Oh dear god. First couple pics, the dude in the car is me. Whaddya know..
I had a thread in the auto show section with my pics if anyone wanted to see them, but they weren't as good a quality as these. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the car as well. My only qualm was the leather, which was 'meh' and nothing I haven't seen in a Malibu or Impala. Shifter felt nice, placement of everything was better than I could have hoped. It's just that leather.. -_-

This is what worries me about the leather...
![]() Whats up with all the wrinkling in the passenger seat? Why isn't it tight over the cushioning beneath? |

Remember these are still not the production cars, so expect some details to be taken care of in the actual production car.
I noticed last night that the silver Camaro on Barrett Jackson had the stripes going over the spoiler where the red car here did not have any stripes on the spoiler... See what I mean...

I noticed the wrinkling too. Even the IBM car that I photo'd had it. I wasn't sure if it was necessary play or if it just wasn't stretched enough. Hopefully this won't be a problem with production.

I actually felt that wrinkling on the drivers seat, hence why I cited in my thread that I don't expect this leather lasting more than 70K miles before we see some splitting along the wrinkles. My 96 monte had this same problem.
What's worse was that it wrinkled so bad that it tore a 3 inch hole by around 74K miles.. Everything else was alright, design was good but materials were just as critics say. Could be better, could be worse. I liked it though. I will say that the car was THE HIT of the show. Lines for the whole day. Looks like people saw past the Leather and found the car underneath..the Beast of Larned street and Washington Ave. If there's any consolation to the leather problem, the Mustang looked worse. XD Challanger also did not fit right at all. Not glove-like such as the Camaro did for me. EDIT: THE LINES!!!

This was how I was able to get a feel for the leather (which I hated in the end.) The challanger was actually less crowded but the Mustang had a line and wait between the two. But mind you this was SATURDAY, the first day of the show. It may be better as the week progresses, so I wouldn't take this as the final nail for wait times and crowds. Again, I'd call the car the star of the show this year. Even more than the CGM ZR-1 parked next to it.

I'm going to have to go back to the Auto Show since it looks like they are letting people sit inside! I was there on media press day 1/11 and the didn't have the red one on the floor yet! I need to sit inside of it. I wasn't able to do that when I bought the Sky and ended up selling it. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Yeah, 12 bucks to sit in a ZR-1 and a 2SS/RS was well worth it. Pic related below.
![]() Also, Hursts may not be needed for this car. She shifts quite smoothly and the gears are relatively easy to find even for a novice like myself. IMO the Hurst may be more of a burden with this particular vehicle.. sad, but it's also personal prefrence, so take it for what it is, an opinion.
