You clearly haven't seen the stock GM one, because those look like(and are) trash in comparison to OEM. I'l be waiting for HUD and Nav.

I'll be passing on the HUD, even if it was a factory option. Just too much money for the benefit. And not just initial price - have you seen the price difference on replacing a HUD equipped windshield vs. a non-HUD windshield?

Maybe but what if your insurance see how much it costs to replace one? We may be able to get by the first time but I think they put a clause in there after the replacement. Just my guess on the way the world turns on us at times. After all the BIGGEST buildings I have seen in cities are banks and insurance offices.

I don't see what the big deal is with hud... its kinda pointless, and why wouldn't you want to look at the beautiful speedometer on the camaro?

I'll be getting the lowest amount of coverage I can - probably just liability and comprehensive.

Because I'm poor.

Sweet then. I hope this waitig will get them to add it free for the extra month but if not it won't be that big of a deal. I probably need to be searching for a nice radar detector but one I can afford.

Because, when i'm doing 250+k down the road, i might not have time to look at the speedo, this way it will be displayed just below your sight line.
Not to mention, all the ladies will ask questions about it, and will think its like some super future car or something!

You must be paying cash. If you finance, ALL lending agencies require you carry full coverage, including collision.

Bingo on the first part. You keep your eyes on the road instead of on the gauges.

I agree...just not that interesting to me. Cool factor sure but honestly I could care less if the car has HUD.

ABL is about the same factor for me...cool yes, must have, no.

I am buying for the performance aspects of the car, not lights and speedos on the windshield!

Maybe it is just me, but this is how I feel about it. If I am really cruising along at like 100mph+ I am not really worried about the exact speed I am going because it is already illegal. I would also think that most of us could drive and shift gears and all of that by feel and sound.

I have never had HUD so I don't know what it is all about.

HUD without question has some safety advantges. Anyone who has driven a HUD car knows that it keeps you constantly aware of your speed and does not require you to look down. This technology has been used in aviation for some time for the very same reasons. As far as windshield replacement I believe my buddy with a C6 was quoted about any extra 50 bucks. I live in AZ and anyone who lives here gets zero deductible glass because we always need to get replacements about every year or two.

Finally, HUD is like any other option. The person who buys the car gets to decide how to spend their money. Some will get everything possible. Some will get a 1SS with nothing else. I respect everyones right to buy what they want. When it comes to HUD their seems to be a group that feels it is not macho or anyone who buys it is a fool. Personally I follow the golden rule. "He who has the gold makes the rules" Unless you are going to pay for my car you don't get a vote.

Seems track dogs appreciate the HUD and cruisers do not. That's why it would be an OPTION. BTW it more about the tach and shift light than speed display for those that have never driven a HUD equiped car on the track. And I liked to monitor my oil pressure on the HUD and oil temp in the DIC. Trust me on this, even with the Z51's additional oil coolers, my oil temp reach 304 at 315 the Corvette goes into a power reduced mode to protect itself so there are many other reasons and uses for the HUD.

Speed is MUST....i double clutch...i like my transmissions....if you want to double clutch...you must know the speed to Rev match...or else your synchros will go...no matter how nice you are on your transmission.
