20,000$ mark up holy crap. You could probably charter a plane to ship one over for you...I'm assuming for a 4-5 grand you could get a Camaro over there.

Not surprised. The premium people pay for the best climate in the states is insane. Most of there resource's are imported correct me if im wrong here.. Love the place no way in hell i would live there.

Haha I like how they just straight out say "Mark-up" and not something like "Market adjustment"......

Everything is imported there in the islands. But yeah that's an insane mark up for a Camaro

Wow... and we complain in Canada!! Though that's what a fully loaded 2LT/RS would sell for here.

"Delivery and Handling Fee: Included" lol at that price it better be!!

If you can afford to live in Maui, you can afford to pay that price.

I live in Hawaii on Oahu (main tourist island) and happen to work for a local dealer.

Folks are actually paying the markup. The "included" delivery & handling fee is for shipment to the surrounding Hawaiian islands only.

Much easier to just ship your Camaro from Seattle or Los Angeles in a covered container for $1000 buckaroos.

But yeah, folks are actually paying the markup.

The best part is the "The Best Deals on Maui" blurb.

I remember local dealers in NJ marking up $5000 when the 2010's first came out. $20K is just NUTS!

Yeah I can see a mark up in the islands because of shipping cost's, but +20K mark up come on!

$10,000 import tax for the 2SS in Puerto Rico. PR is closer to the mainland than Maui.

Thats insane............The line about the available service agreement......and asking the dealer for details is a scary thought. Yikes. I'm wondering if a Dunn and Bradstreet letter of credit is needed in order you qualify just so you get to test drive..... lol

Our favorite place in the world is Kauai, and yeah about 90% of everything is imported. Costs are about 15% more then here in Kali except the houses, 30% more but man is it beautiful there! But $20000 more for a chevy? No way I'd pay that! Besides with the rain and red mud there I'd just own a Jeep or a regular car I didn't worry about as to appearance.

Don't forget you can't import and register a new car into California from another state until it has 7500 mi on the odometer. Hawaii may have similar protections to prevent folks from importing cars from the lower 48 to avoid the insane local dealer markups. I also think Hawaii has import restrictions on cars coming into the state.
I bet if you go to the dealer in Maui and complain about the markup, the salesman probably would say.."fine, go ahead and try to import one". He knows you can't.
