Request: Intake manifold without cover?

Just curious if anyone has a picture of the LS3 intake manifold with the sound deadening "beauty cover" removed?

More or less just curious what it looks like

Thanks All!

I don't have any picture, but it looks like crap. In my opinion, this engine is ugly without the cover. You have heater hoses running over it, coils and full of wires, valve cover are butt ugly (what you can see from them). Anyway, this is just my opinion...

A search would get you what you want, also, you can remove yours in 10 secs and see it in person! Remove the oil filler cap and lift up at the front....

L99 and LS3 look identical.
Here's my motor with both covers removed (Intake cover and engine cover). Taking the covers off helps your engine cool down faster.

Here are the two covers I took off my car.

10 seconds? Used to take me 4.5 seconds.

Intake cover takes a little more time. You have to lift the fuel rails to get it off. I had some help taking mine off when my car was being tuned. I had to loosen a couple screws if I remember correctly. The main deal is getting the fuel rails up and out of the way.

Who sees it? Unless you're putting your car in a car show, I don't see why you'd have to leave it on.

I personally like seeing the engine a lot better than a big plastic cover.

The cooler the motor the better. Getting that heat build up off the air intake is a good thing.

I would rather look at this than a plastic cover.

Thanks you guys, but i'm not referring to the big ugly plastic shroud that pops right off. I'm talking about the cover that's on the intake manifold itself... many of you who posted pictures may not even realize that that's not the intake manifold you're looking it.. it's also a cover.

SGOS252382 posted exactly what I was looking for... which makes me wonder why in the heck that intake manifold cover is there... looks pretty w/o it!

I also run without the covers. They seem a littles ridiculous to me. They hold in heat, and are not pleasing to the eye.

The second cover is not so much a cover as it is an insulator to keep the heated engine bay air off of the actual intake manifold itself. Not sure just how effective it is.... but I dealt with mine like this:

By far my favorite solution!

This is exactly what I'm planning in spring. I was more less curious what kind of Frankenstein rig that manifold "cap" was hiding, guess it's just an extra insulating layer for temperature fluctuation and sound deadening!

I don't understand why all of the LS-series motors have to have this massive jumble of chaos exposed right on top of the engine. Was it really so hard to take into design consideration a cleaner method of hiding wires than to just stick a piece of plastic over it?

I kind of want to open my engine bay and have the same kind of sight before my eyes that greets people when they open up the hood of their 1st Gens.

I understand that the major advancements in technology since the 60's requires more wiring and sensors now, but did aesthetics really have to suffer as bad as they have?
