SS/RS Question

Ok so I ordered an SS with RS for the HiDs and spoiler but what im wonder what wheels am I gonna get the RS or the SS and what do the 2 look like? I only ask because I have read these too spec sheet quotes...

"RS Appearance Package available on LT and SS, with HID headlamps with integrated halo ring feature, spoiler, specific taillamps and 20-inch wheels"

"SS Vehicle comes equipped with 20x8 inch in front and 20x9 inch in rear wheels"

Pics please if you got them >.<

With RS you will get the ones on the middle left instead of the ones in the middle or upper right. You can order to get the RS package with the ones in the middle or upper right if you prefer however.

Ok I have another question - will the RS' rear 20's be 9" wide and get 275's? I think this would be cool, though I guess you would have to replace your tires more often since rotating them would not work too well.

1SS and 2SS come standard with the following tires: P245/45ZR20 front and P275/40ZR20 rear, summer tires.

Yeah but will the LT with the RS package get 20's s with these same tires or will all four be 20" x 8" and P245/45ZR20 or will the rear have 20" x 9" and P275/40ZR20's?

RS will (for the sake of conversation) give the LTs SS wheels.

This brings up a good point about tire rotation. Since we won't be able to rotate them or even swap them since they'll be directional tires, how many miles can we expect out of them under normal driving conditions? Also, would it be safe to assume the front tires will wear faster, therefore, we'll be at the tire store buying 2 tires at a time vs. a whole set at once? (might have to do this anyway since the tire pricing will be outrageous I'm sure)

Anybody have a feeling on this?

Weight distribution is pretty even. With a driver, the V6 is supposed to get almost perfect 50/50...The SS has another 100 pounds distributed among a physically larger engine, and suspension upgrades (roll-bar, etc)

I can't imagine uneven tire wear would be a huge issue with this car (even without rotation), as opposed to say a FWD Malibu or Impala....

the rear tires will wear much quicker than the fronts. The fronts will only be direvtional. The rears will get all the work and yes they will cost easily 200 plus each

I just figured that the front tires taking more punishment from turning and such that they would wear faster but then again I'm no expert. Never owned a car that I could not rotate the tires. I once had a friend who bought a new Porshe Carrera 4 (sp?) that had different tire dimensions as well and he complained to the dealer that he was only getting 6000 miles out of a set of tires. Good Lord, I hope that is not the case for us! Please tell me it ain't so!!

I was reading on one site that people said they were only getting 20k out of these tires.
They are closer to $400 than $300.

Will getting an auto V6 with RS be a problem since it will have no LSD? Sorry I keep bringing the LSD up but just wondering if the bigger back tires will make a difference on anything?

Nope. Unless you're racing, burning out, or going off-road, you'll never notice if you have a limited slip, or not.

How come we won't be able to rotate them front to back?

They are the same size at all four corners, correct?

Speaking of rim width. I want the 14 in wide rims like the IROC Z

The 20" won't be. The 18s and 19s will be the same size, but you may or may not be able to rotate them. It depends if they're directional or not (ie; only designed to spin in one direction--for those who didn't know).

Correct. The 20s are obviously the same size in diameter (20") but different widths. The rear tires are wider than the front tires. Man, I hope we get more than 20k out of these babies. That's gonna be expensive. May have to shop for alternatives but just about any tire with those dimensions are not gonna be cheap anyway. Oh well. Can't take it with ya...

My FWD GP GXP has different size tires and I get about 20k mile from the fronts and 50k miles rear. I would think having RWD and better weight distribution would help even out the wear.
What I found to be the biggest pain is that if you don't like the tires that are installed on the car then it is very difficult to find another manufacture that makes both sizes of tires so that you can switch brands.
And it is also irritating having the dealer ask everytime you bring the car in "it appears we haven't rotated the tires in awhile. Should we do that for you?"

I had 245/45/19 and 275/40/19 on my M3...obviously unidirectional. The tires can be rotated...but it requires un-mounting the tire from the rim...an extra cost...but not much if you're looking for maximum wear. The bigger risk is the damage that careless hands with heavy tools can do to your painted wheel.

You'd have to start in second gear every time and take corners at 10MPH to get that kind of mileage...

Also depends what portion of your driving is done on highway, in traffice, etc. I would generally get about 15K out a PS03's on the rear and about 20k from the fronts....and I'm 'easy' on tires...relatively easy....

So what you're saying is that those that drive the average per year (is it up to 15k yet?) can plan on buying a set of tires annually, give or take a month or 2? OMG, this ain't good!!
