camaro seats....

The camaro I am purchasing comes with cloth seats. My question is, would it be better to go find a wrecked 4th gen camaro and take the leather seats out of that one, which would be quite pricey. Or, I also found leather seat covers that look just like the leather from a normal camaro, not some knock off brand?

upgrade to the leather seats or get the seat covers to protect the seats.

The seat-covers you found are FOR the Camaro?

If you're dead-set on leather-appointed seating, I'd recommend Katzkin. They can ship the leather seat-covers (made specifically for the 5thgen) to your dealer, and the dealer can install them while maintaining the factory warranty, because Katzkin is GM-licensed.

If your going to change seats you might consider ones from a TA, my seats came out of an LT1 TA. Much more comfortable than the Camaro seats IMHO. I also had these recovered with Katzkin with SS embroidery.

So even though the 2000 Camaro SS has the cloth seats, I would just have to put these katzkins over those cloth seats and it would look just as if I have leather ?

you can find leather seats for sale, all 4 usually go for around $300.00 depending on condition. I bought mine for just under that from a guy in IL when I was back home a few years ago. the fronts were reupholstered professionally and he had gotten a set of rear covers for the back but never installed them. so I installed them on the rears myself.

tho I do recommend the T/A seats. they do feel more comfortable and they have a little more side support built into them.

Yes. They would be leather seats, with better quality leather than the OEM.

okay so if I were to buy these catzkins I would just zipper it right over my cloth seats? Would if tighten up with all the grooves on my cloth seats and look as if their is no cover? Would I need to add an adhesive to my cloth if I wanted this leather to be perminant?
Ive seen some cheapo seat covers and it looks like a leather bag thrown over the seats, I want them to look as if you couldnt tell that I had seat covers

No these are replacement covers. The cloth is removed and the leather is stretched over the bare seat. You can do it but it takes a while and a few upholstery tools are recommended (hog ring pliers, etc.)

If you are not sure about it talk to an upholstery shop. I had mine done by a shop who was a Katskin dealer. Because they can get the leathers wholesale they were able to do it for less than $100 over my cost for just the leather. Plus they take on the liability if something tears during installation.

I would also like an Idea as to how much the seats would cost, as I've been considering the same, there's no pricing information on the katzkins website that I could find. Any like ball park would be good, I'd just like to know how much I'll need to be prepared to drop on some new seats
