Installing rear sensor in 2010 SS/RS.

Sorry if this is a duplicate post but I did a search and didn't find anything about installing the rear sensor that is in the 2011 model into a 2010 model. My 2010 was supposed to have the rear sensor according to the brochure at the dealership. Any idea what is involved in installing the sensor into my 2010Camaro?

What do you think would happen if I contacted a GM rep and tell him I want the sensor installed at no charge since the car was supposed to come with the rear sensor?

No, the early-build 2010's didn't have it. You probably have the 'GM' chicklet on your fender and the "Performance Division" badge under your hood, too. Be proud of your early adopter status , and be careful when backing up.

Retrofitting from a 2011 will require a bumper change, and maybe your radio (?)

I'm fortunate to have a company vehicle to drive. A number of rules and responsibilities come with that vehicle. One of those is to walk behind and physically look to see what's behind you before getting in and starting it up. This has been a policy for over 15 years and guess what - it works. Total cost is 20 seconds of your time. Responsible party - you. It's a routine just like fastening your seat belts. I've just carried that over to my personal vehicles.

I didn't think it would be that complicated or would require a new bumper and/or radio.

Ah thanks for the safety tip Gordon but I would prefer having a working sensor. I back into most of my parking spaces and I don't want to have to get out everytime I park. I haven't hit anything yet so I'm pretty good at judging distance, however, the car was supposed to come with a back up sensor, not to mention HUD. Of which I received neither from GM.
