KABOOOM!!

I'm a yard manager at my job and one of my jobs is maintaining our mobile equipment. Of course, with heavy machinery these are always possibilities of something going wrong. Our front end loader we use for dumping sand and loading dump trucks with scap, one of the tries stuck something and started to leak. I called in a mobile equipment company to repair the tire. I met the tech, informed him of what tire needed the repair, and walked to a near by office to get some paperwork done. I was in the office typing up an email when.....BOOOOM! The whole office shook and I knew exactly what happened. Fearing the worst I walked outside hoping I wouldn't see a guy laying on the ground in a pool of blood. Luckly the tech only suffered minor scratches from flying sand and I'm certain a major ringing in his ears. Otherwise he was ok. The tire blew out the sidewall and will need to be replaced. Didn't need any more coffee to wake me up after that.

Shouldn't be a problem. Just take the can of fix-a-flat from the Camaro and fill er up.

Back when I was driving big rigs, I blew a tire while rolling down the highway. Honestly, as random as it might sound, my very first thought was that I had just been hit by a low- flying airplane. The boom, the shockwave, the jolt.... wow!

Big tires with high PSIs.... ain't no joke when THEY go!

This is one of the reasons the Tweel was invented:

Airless tire & wheel combination.

The spokes flex, like a regular tire would, but it can never go flat because it doesn't hold any air. Probably aren't cheap though. And they only seem to be available in golf cart, mower, and skid steer sizes.
