Tinted Windows?

Does the back and 2 small windows come from the factory with tint? or even the passenger and driver side window come with a little tint?

I doubt it.

I'll probably tint them some. But not too dark. It's too difficult to see out of at night when they're too dark.

Besides, even if they're not tinted THAT dark, having them all tinted makes them appear even darker because less light is coming through the other side. You can still see, but they look darker than they really are.

Speaking of tinted windows and I dont mean to . Maybe a current Mustang owner knows the answere to this, but the Camaro has auto indexing windows. So how do you tint these. It seems like you would have to disconect the battery and wait a day or two to drive it. Maybe there will be a fuse we can pull.

Yeah, blacking out isn't safe at all, and in many places illegal. I'll be doing a medium-light tint in back and the rear quarter windows. The front side windows I believe are illegal to tint in California, but if you go a light enough shade (and I'd go really light) next to the darker tint in the rear, no one will notice, so I can probably get away with that.

my mustang has tinted windows and I had no problem with the window opening and closing when I shut or opened the door... it didn't mess up the tint at all

Standard tint all around. Very subtle.

From Corvette experience, the trick is:

You open the door and flip the latch mechanism to trick the window into going up the rest of the way.

What the hell are 'auto indexing' windows?

I learn so much here.

When you open the door the window rolls down slightly. when you shut the door the window rolls back up.

the windows are suppose to stay up for a couple of days after you get them tinted, so it doesnt wreck the finish.

as for tinting that comes with the car, in a bunch of the car show pictures the windows seem to be slightly tinted already, it could just be the lighting from the ceiling into a dark interior but confirmation would be nice

Actually Stovt you must let at least 70% of the light in. So you can tint up to 30% darkness, in California that is.

Yep, you're right on target. I plan on doing the 70% up front, and go real dark, 5% on the back three.

I'm going to keep it legal as well. 35% on the back and sides, and then 20% on the 1/4 windows (technically there is no legal limit on the 1/4 windows, but I want it to be light enough to not stand out from the sides/back yet still dark enough to fully conceal the B pillar and keep interior temps down).

You dont. It rolls down so you can open your door. Then when you close it it rolls back up to create a water tight seal.

This was the only thing I thought was cool about the new mustang when I drove it. Only other thing I liked was the view from the GINORMOUS side mirrors. Of course, they look stupid though. I think the camaro blended large enough mirrors with nice looks very nicely.

Sorry for the tangent. I hope the auto indexing doesn't mess up my tint job.

Couldn't you tell them to hold on to the driver's side window for a couple days then put it on. Just pretend the window is rolled down.

This might be stupid question #34, but when the two larger side windows are done, do they have to take parts of the door panels off to do the job properly?

Not a dumb question! When the side windows are done they make the cut right below the window seal (that rubber piece with felt inside) so that it doesnt catch on it. The only reason you arent supposed to roll the windows down is because when you roll them up the edge of the tint MIGHT catch. I think the way that the autoindexing windows are made though, the top wouldnt catch on anything when it rolls up that little bit. I have tinted windows before and rolled them up and down a couple hours after I finished them with no problems. To answer the original question, the glass is already tinted a little bit from the factory. It is very little but it does have a slight tint to it.
