Stripe Kits

Hey All

I just came from the dealer and as of today the stripe kits shown are all still dealer installs according to the sales manager. I have a SIM on order but chose not to get the stripes as of yet because I don't want peeps crawling around on the car.

I'll be getting mine painted, but mostly because the stripes I want are not offered from the factory or GMPP.

I'm getting black which will be dealer installed (unless GM changes it so they can do it factory) until the car is paid off so that way they will be covered by the warranty and by the insurance in case anything happens. After wards though I'm getting them painted just like the concepts.

Yeah, it seems silly to me GM didn't have an option to have them painted like the concepts. At least for all the pre-orders..

Your dealer is an idiot. Nonetheless, your dealer is right about the stripes for now.

Yes, only CGM and White for now at the factory, but CamaroScotty reported the following being said during the Jan. 9th IDL: "Factory may apply more stripes in near future", leading many to think more colors will be offered RPO. Stay tuned.

You all are saying that there will be some stripe kits installed by the factory but yet my dealer showed me the info given to them by there GM rep and all strips are marked as dealer install only. I guess I will have to keep on top of this.

As Blur has said - dealers are idiots. There are two stripe packages (white and cyber gray rally) available from the factory. They are working on more. LPO codes are available and everything.

Honestly, it sounds to me like he's trying to scam you into paying the (outrageous) labor costs for the dealer install, instead of getting a factory install.

Totally agreed - great choice! Still going back and forth between silver/black and silver/cyber gray for my camaro.

My brother votes cyber gray because he thinks the metallic would look better with metallic stripes. I'm still going back and forth though. I really like the black.

I did the black 2SS with the CGM stripes. I like the stripes, but I'm hoping it'll give a sort of "ghosted" look with the stripes not being much lighter than the paint

There is no way a vinyl stripe will look "ghosted"

i dont think youv'e seen ghost stripes or ghost flames then, just because something blends color wise doesnt make it look ghosted. until you can stand 5 feet away looking directly at it and not see it,and then shift over a foot or even inches and then it jumps out at you.it's not ghost stripes.

Well, obviously vinyl will not look like a true ghosted paintjob. Anyone who thinks they can get a true ghosted look with vinyl is going to be a "little" disappointed. I'm just saying the CGM stripe with the black background ought to look pretty cool. I did say "sort of" in my original post, but I didn't think anyone would take my post so literal that they would think I don't know the difference between vinyl and ghosted graphics.

Anyway, back to the topic.....

So if one orders CGM stripes on a 2SS they are factory installed? Are they painted on or are they some sort of vinyl decal? I've already made a change to the car and did get a revised workbench while still maintaining my "positioning". However. it still makes me nervous to submit changes. Also, I was wondering about a constraint on the CGM paint. Am I being overly anxious?

There's a sticky for everything stripe related here:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8624

But to answer your question, all stripes are vinyl, and only CGM or White Rally Stripes can be ordered from the factory. All colors for rally stripe or hood and hokey stripes are available as dealer installed options (Including CGM and White).
