The ZL1 is FE5 with the new style rear lower control arm and much bigger bars solid 25mm front and solid 28mm rear.

The new style arm is a huge improvement over the 10s and 11s. HUGE. The 10s and 11s can be converted to the new style Z bar by replacing the rear lower control arms with the new style control arms and updated rear sway bar.
I'll keep that in mind, but after I swap to the new LPE/JRE 3:91 diff in April coilovers and a DBA brake rotor up-grade are the next two mods.

That would be really funny. I think every one on c5 needs a bobble head and then when everyone get together you could do a group bobble head photo. 😂

Yep. Now it's bed time. Green Stone Brewing was in full swing again today. Rouge Nation Red Ale clone with a Green Stone twist was the order of today.

Ok,

I'm campaigning really hard... but no promises...

I registered for the FBody Gathering in Atlanta Ga. in May...

I'm not sure if I'll drive the car or pull it but I am certainly going to try to make it.... Looking forward to finally meeting some of you guys from the right coast and seeing the others again...

Merc, You guys need to start a Brewery... for commercial purposes... A nice Micro-brewery that caters to eclectic tastes and supports the racing and car mods...

....then to beer brewing, sweet!

Hope you do make it up to F Body this year! You'll have a ball.

It's a well traveled thread....

I'm sure hoping it'll work out for me to be there... Right now I don't see why it wouldn't....

Just had a great phone conversation with the guy that built my transmission...
Contrary to my previous statement, this is a TR6060 Trans... built by Rockland Standard Gear...

It was confirmed that with the extended tail shaft housing, all of the shafts are 9310 material, and sixth gear is the only one that isn't 9310... 1st through 5th are 9310 gears...

The Gearing is a little different than stock...

1st Gear 2.66
2nd Gear 1.78
3rd Gear 1.30
4th Gear 1.0
5th Gear .80
6th Gear .8563 if I copied the numbers correctly...

The ratios below are the Factory gears...

1st: 3.01
2nd: 2.07
3rd: 1.43
4th: 1.00
5th: 0.84
6th: 0.57

what does that mean to us laymans terms.

I see they are a little lower than stock.... with the exception of 6th.. it higher.

That's a really close ratio gearbox!

6th can't be right tho..... .63 maybe?

What rear axle ratio did you go with?

May be close to the ZL1 gears, or even a bit closer

6th seems odd to me as well. These ratios let him stretch out the engine a bit more. More boost!!!!!

Our hunt was for setting a world recod in the standing mile without having to get out of 5th gear.... The 3.07's will also allow me to stay in 4th for the quarter mile... When stock, I was red lining 3rd or shifting into 4th at the finish line... 'With the 3.45's, and an easy launch, I was going into 4th real close to the 1/8th mile... Now I don't have to worry about 5th in the 1/4 even after we up the power...

It means we can stretch each gear out just a bit further so I'm not shifting out of first in the first 60 feet...

3.07.... And yes, it is a very close ratio....

Yup... I may have copied sixth wrong... It is a satellite connection and not real clear on the reception.

When do you foresee this mile run? May have to plan a Texas trip.

Think of it as a ratio; 3.07 : 1. 1 rotation of the tire is 3.07 rotations of the ring gear in the diff. That will be the same regarless of what the transmission is doing.
