Haha. Oh well. I started transferring clothes over and I was like what's that black thing...why does it have a bowt...DAMNITTT. Haha.

It's at Bun 'n Barrell I believe. Most likely won't go to the meet. Slight chance I'll go to Chris and Glens. Just depends on how much there is left to do around here for the weekend.

Well it's been a tough day...

My wife and I had to have our friend and companion laid to rest this morning...

He had a rare form of cancer, diagnosed about three weeks ago. We discussed the situation with our vet and decided that we would monitor his quality of life.

Satchmo, (W-Bar's Lord Satchmo of Lazy D) was the neighborhood dog... He was a friend to one and all and took great pride in watching out for little ones, two and four legged little ones...

As late as last night he went for a walk to check out his neighborhood and didn't exhibit and problems other than a slight limp in the shoulder, and some instability which is what had led us to take him to the vet, in his back legs, but he trooped on tail wagging and checking everything out like always. This morning, for the first time, he had a really hard time getting up and could not put any weight on his left foreleg. For a 200 lb dog, this is a major concern. The original diagnoses was for cancer in his hind legs. Apparently it was spreading quite fast, and out of fairness to him, we decided to put him down... He gave us so much, we didn't want to prolong his pain for our selfish concerns, and we didn't want him in a drug induced haze.

We have several neighbors that would come over and let him out during the day so he could hang with the kids...

I've never had a better dog, or four legged companion. He is comfortable, and wherever in heaven he is, you can bet that tail is thumping...

:( Shit.

Robert man, dogs are family as we all know. Hate to hear this. Especially a dog like that. For the most part the 'Mans best friend' is just understood and can be seen but sometimes they go beyond that moniker. Sounds like Satchmo was just that dog.

Hope you guys can remember him well and get along well.

Nother dog in the near future?

I don't think so any time soon... I feel we would be making comparisons and that's not fair... We've discussed probably getting a rescue dog some time in the future, but it won't be a big dog like this again...

And yes, that was well said, Satch went way way beyond the man's best friend moniker... and Thank You for the well wishes...

R,

It was wonderful being one of the lucky few that got to interact with Satchmo. Even though I only met him once, you could tell he had the "gentle giant" personality that you couldn't help but love him for. He will be dearly missed.

I check this thread every once and awhile and never post but it kills me to see a family member go. I have had to put down one of my kids years ago and I still tear up thinking about it.

It's tough. :(

Steve

Great build too

Sorry man. It suck's. We have our little Chole. She is 14 and needs insuline twice a day and special food. It will be a sad day when we have to put her down if her quality of life slips. I'm sure Colleen and I will be bawling like babies.

:(
