In fact, I'm headed out for a breakfast taco on the way to the shop... Gotta see my girl after three weeks.

Ok, so I'll throw a little bit of that old boring car stuff in here...

Here are some pictures of the trunk area prior to any change, and then as it was cut out....

Here are some pics of the almost complete project.... The Weldon fuel pump and the new fuel cell sit in a frame under the black painted aluminum plate. The 15 lb nitrous bottles sit on top of the plate. The battery is moved up and forward in the trunk... After the primary frame of the chute mount was built, Corey added some bracing going forward to strengthen and triangulate it... I believe we could pick up the car, the trailer it rides on to events, and the truck towing it if needed...

I'll have more pics over the next few days... My camera battery died and I had to buy a new charger....

That looks purty

I'm kind of afraid to stick the GoPro's outside the vehicle anywhere. According to GoPro's site:

Quote:
Proven at speeds of 150+ mph. Strong enough to pull dents out of a car door (unfortunately tested and proven by GoPro) or stay attached to an airplane at 200mph+, proven though not endorsed by GoPro per FAA rules.
So, if you plan on hitting 215mph, I'm kinda concerned that they may not be aerodynamic enough to remain in place towards the end of the run...

What do you think?

We'll mount them inside the car... One on the roll bar, one looking forward out the glass... see how it looks... I'll bring my laptop if you need to look at the video and see what adjustments need to be made...

We can try for the big eyes look as well.... They ought to be pretty big at 215 or so...

I'll see if I can squeeze through the roll cage and suction-cup mount one to the rear window inside facing backwards...

The roll-bar mount transmits literally EVERY single noise associated with anything attached to the frame through the bar and directly into the camera. It was kinda weird hearing this constant buzz droning over every other noise.

But then again, if I'm removing all of the audio and putting in a soundtrack, I guess it's not really an issue

Squeezing through the roll bar is going to be more interesting by then... We are adding a big cross brace X behind the seats going from one side of the car to the other. We'll figure it out... I wonder if some thin soft material between the mount and bar would help...???

Thanks Pete,

We can't put the D-bars in due to seating position when I'm driving... especially with the helmet on, so we contacted the Tech guys at the mile and asked about the cross brace from the D-bar mount location to the read bar mount on the other side of the car... and they said that was great, and stronger than just the D-bars... The rear seats are no longer usable, so... this is the fix for the cross strengthening....

We will also but putting some sound deadening material under the seats and other places.Eventually the rear seats will be gone completely, but for now they are cosmetic... and very little weight gain...
