My God! I had always thought though to get the strongest rear was with a straight axle, not IRS. Obviously this set up your going with will handle it though.

Going to be a very quick 1 mile it seems. Imagine how the 1/4 will feel after that? Don't blink!

The straight axle is probably the strongest way to go... and there are other benefits to it... but it is not street friendly.... You may be referring to an old school rear with the axle tubes... That is a huge amount of work to convert these cars over to that... There are a couple of cars that have been set up that way.... but that's not my bag... I like the IRS...

Yup, the quarter miles may go by really quick... I'm hoping to go well over 200 in the mile... Well over...

Have you figured out what rear gears you want? Sounds like you're about ready for numerically lower

Yeah, I'm going with 3.07 gears... If we did the math correctly, those should allow me to go around 219 mph in 5th gear... I do not want to have to shift into 6th in the mile...Turbo's love a load... so, I'll get into 5th just past the 1/4 mile and let them work their ever loving lil butts off... assisted by some nitrous and race fuel...

When will you run the mile? And where in Texas?

219 in 5th......that's just amazing. 130 is the fastest I've gone on ground.

Our plan is to run in March... I'm hoping they make some repairs to the track by then... I don't want to knock the whole front end off hitting that big bump just past the finish line...

They currently run it in Beeville, Texas...at an abandoned military airbase...

Come down in March and you may get a chance to stretch that ground speed out... a little more than the 130 mph...

Doug has already claimed a ride if I'm able to top 200... All it would require is a full fire suit... helmet etc... I'll have racing seats and two five point harnesses... and the Texas mile allows riders...

Hmmmm, haven't been to San Antonio for a year. May be time to vist the wife's family again!
