I contacted the guy I ordered the gills from, told him about my difficulty, and he's sending me another set for free For a brief second the pride in me wanted to try it again but this time I'm definitely waiting and having someone else put them on lol.
Next up? Either Summit White heritage grill or Vararam...looks or speed?

I would go with the Vararam. Look at your maf and make sure its not the weak one though. The heritage grill has been having a little QA issue lately. I would wait until it is fixed.

Heritage Grill!
Woo! So my dream design is coming together slowly...I was scared to take the leap, but I think it looks absolutely beautiful with the IBM. So this came from Gary's custom, I received it within a week, and finally got a chance to put it on today. A little patience was needed since I did it by myself, but it man it looks goooooood

Purchased a Vararam no tune intake from another forum member this week AND a Diablosport Predator tuner from another member...I hope these mods slow me down for awhile. This is getting kinda costly...
But in other news!

**************BELT CHECK****************
Last night I heard my car squealing like Wilbur at a butcher shop. When I got home, I popped my hood, and managed to find the source of the noise...one of my belts. Anyway, it's been raining hard in Jax lately, and I thought (don't ask why) that maybe the rain had something to do with it and it would be better today. Definitely not the case.
I popped my hood when I got off of work today and had the sunlight to look, and discovered that my A/C belt was riding on top of the larger belt next to it. I have no idea how it got that bad, but luckily nothing rubbed through. I called my dealer, they told me to shoot over and they'd fix it. After reading through some other posts, I found out that a few other cars had this problem when the factory did not center them correctly. I told my mechanic that when I got there, he put the belt back on, and I was gone after thirty minutes max.
I'm going to keep watching it because if it slipped off once, I guarantee it'll do it again. Plus I'm worried about the integrity of the belt since it was rubbing the other one.
By the way my car has 3300 miles on it at this point.

So next time you're washing your car, pop your hood and check the smaller belt on the lower passenger side. This probably won't be a widespread problem, but just letting others know
Have a great day!

-Jared

Well, kinda. I started late and so I'm only halfway done, but I got the blue painted today and I'm adding the white tomorrow! I was scared at first but it looks pretty sweet so far...can't wait to see it put back on.
I'll update this post with completed pictures soon...

I got my Vararam unit yesterday I wish I had taken my car on a dyno beforehand so I could see what my gain is, but no big deal.
So installation was a bit tricky. I pulled my friend Steve who's a mechanic over at Nissan for some help, the directions made sense but it never hurts to have another hand. After test fitting a few times, we got the unit on and took it out for its first run. The idle was rough at the start, but I expected that. It cleared up in about a couple of minutes and we took it easy on the car, listening to the engine. We could smell gas when I opened it up on the highway, but only once. I didn't smell anything on my way to work this morning. The computer needs time to learn, and it dials in about 30-40 miles. Throttle response has been good, I looked at my MAF and it had a single letter with a giant X over it. I didn't know if this was still one that needed to be replaced or not, so I put the unit in anyway and decided if the car felt like it wasn't performing to par, I'd buy a new sensor. No complaints so far though.
Anyways, I hit 40 miles today on the way to work so I can start doing some "spirited" driving. Can't hit WOT until 100 miles, but so far the response does in fact feel better. But we all know how the butt dyno goes lol, I'd be interested in seeing where I'm at now...

Installed the Diablo tune this Thursday after hitting 100 miles...the car is wicked now. Not that it wasn't before but...man. I LOVE THIS CAR!
Here's the pics I promised...

I know I just read it as well and I am so siked, I wish I was going to buy one this year but hopefully by then there will be more tuning options and aftermarket support. I decided Im getting that new carbon flash paint heck yeah.

P.S. I think you getting the hash marks would be sick, I wish I still had mine on, oh and yeah whats next?

I LOVE that new color. It looks so mean...
And as for next, I'm gonna do a custom design on some white hash marks, basically have two hashes, but put a tail on the second one and have it go down the side of the car, kinda connect the white in the front and back.
Plus I have my eye on Vmax's ported throttlebodies and intake manifold. I'm loving the pickup my VR and tuner gave me so we'll see

So it's been awhile, Mina and I haven't been up to much really. We let loose on the weekends and visit our friends at the car show but lately we've had some bad luck :(

A month ago I was saying goodbye to my seniors, wishing them the best for their future plans. Beforehand, I had parked Mina in the back of the parking lot, on a corner spot where I believed no one would mistakenly touch her...boy I was wrong.
While the IBM hides things relatively well, poor Mina has an indent in her front bumper now where someone backed into her with only God knows what. Sucks, but really not much I can do about it.

Then last week, I came home late from a guy's night. Parked in my driveway around 3 AM, and when I came out the next morning to go play airsoft...I discovered someone egged the back of my car!

Ya know, it's one thing when a driver messes up their own car, but when your car is damaged at someone else's hands...it's pretty infuriating.

We've had non-stop rain here in Jacksonville, so I'm hoping I can buff her blemish out tomorrow, spend some time relaxing and detailing, but just wanted to catch up with the community

I also picked up a summer job at a dealership, PDIin' cars and detailing them. Got to see a lot of happy customers pick up their own Camaros this summer And of course I passed the word on about Camaro5.com! I love pointing into the employee lot and pointing out my own pride and joy

And another perk? I got to do the PDIs for the new cop cars, the Chevy Caprice (basically a G8 with a bowtie) Took a few pictures for you guys...

It's interesting, it has a 6.0 l v8 but sounds like a 4 cyl! It's really quick, tight handling, we have a lot of interest from highway patrols so if you're in south FL, I'd keep an eye out lol

So Mina just hit 13,000 miles today
And while she still feels like a rocket I can't help but to wonder what it'd be like if she were a wee bit faster lol...

So if anyone wants to chime in, I've talked to a buddy of mine about headers and he showed me what OBX costs and how they're still perfect on his car.
I was wondering who else has the OBX LT headers and if you happen to drive yours daily like mine, if you've had any problems or complaints?
I'd appreciate any and all feedback!

And on another note, I *might* be looking at cam options as well...I've talked to Texas Speed and Jake about a good option but I was wondering as far as daily drivers go, if getting a cam is even worth it? The AFM 1 cam TSP offers would only bring me up 20-30 hp and I'm wondering if that's worth the money...I wonder what a more aggressive cam would feel like and do to my gas mileage. (Sadly that's still a factor) Anyway, if you can give your two cents, please do!
Thanks again guys for being such an awesome community and just so you know...

I"LL SEE YOU AT CAMAROFEST III !!! (Not gonna lie, I'm pretty excited)

So I've heard a lot about plasti-dip. And of course to better take advantage of my mod fever, it comes in white
Needless to say I bought two cans and went at it this weekend. I should have waited until the next day instead of racing the sun, but I painted my passenger side fender as you can see below (sorry for the blurry pictures, I definitely did not beat the sun lol).

First off, plasti-dip does peel right off the car. Even overspray. Of course that takes a little more work to get off, but a little elbow grease and I cleaned it up fine. My suggestion to any looking to try this out, is to remember that YES, you do have to peel off the tape ASAP when you finish your last coat. If you don't, it will pull it right up. Also, try to start small. My stripe going down the side looked cool, but it also made me rush since I didn't want the paint to dry to the tape.
I did white because of my color scheme, but if you try it too on a dark car just remember it will take several passes to completely cover the car's color.

Impressions? I love this stuff. I'm one of those modders that ALWAYS screws up. Even the basic stuff. So, the ability to peel off the mess I made and try it again is a life-saver. I think in the end what I'll do is probably spray a few more times and make a final decision, and then when I have the funds get it painted on the right way

Happy modding!
By the way, plasti-dip in black is about $5.85 in FL at Home Depot and Lowe's. I had to order white online through Summit Racing for about $8 a can. Cheap and fun
